New F01 Owner Intro

Hi Everyone!

Just wanted to introduce myself. Just picked up a 750i w/ the M-Sport package, Driver's assistance, etc. I come from an E38 (among other BMWs, including an E39 M5/540, E46 330ci/323i/M3--which I picked up from Jon Shafer at Cutter Motors... back when Bimmerfest was still held in their parking lot, haha).

Anyway, loving the car. Already coded it for Auto mirror fold, Trunk Lid lowering, removal of disclaimers and finally, replaced the Angel Eye bulbs with a set of the Artic Whites to get rid of the yellow. Looks great!

Looking forward to getting to know more about the car and you fine folks!

Oh, here's a photo of the angel eye comparison. OEM on Left, Arctic White on Right. Not bad really for 25 bucks!

Congrats!

Although you're way north, a couple of us F01/02ers are going to Bimmerfest in May.

Welcome
Chris

Hey, was that the Dark Graphite Metallic that was in front at BMW of Mtn View just a couple of weeks ago?

I was trying to get a buddy to buy it, and sent him pics of the car back to Chicago. It was a great deal.

How are your Arctic Whites in the sunlight (Mine are barely visible)?

Yep, that was the one! Saw it for almost a month online, then drove up and realized it was too good to pass up.

Haven't seen it in the daylight yet (just installed it), but will take note tomorrow. I figure anything's better than yellow

Your car is a splitting image of mine, same color, M-Sport, 20" wheels, except I have an L with X-Drive.

I am in Mtn View for work often and saw it several times for a friend back home. Here are some iPhone pics of the car at the dealership a couple weeks ago. Note the price back then, I saw they dropped it even more.

Glad you made the trip up and it found a great home where you are already taking good care of her! Congrats on a great buy.

Thanks, saved the photos for posterity! Yep, it was a killer deal (and they dropped it even more than that drop, so I couldn't refuse at that point!)--but funny thing is that after looking at all the options out there, I would have paid full asking! (ssshhh, don't tell them I said that!)

oh, small confession... so I actually thought it was black when I drove up, and only realized half way that it wasn't. I've only owned black BMWs, so this was a bit worrisome for me. But when I saw it real life, my jaw dropped. Dark enough not to be gray, but light enough to hide any dust. It's genius really!

I am telling you that car was the best deal out there, and I've looked all over the country (bought my car on business trip in NJ a while back).

My other BMW is jet black too and I was worried too about the Graphite, but now its my favorite color. Love how dark it is and the way it hides dirt actually makes life much easier. And no brake dust to boot.

Impressed you coded the car already, does your TPMS display work? Mine does not, I don't know why? I am a 9/30/09 build.

Did you update the Nav, will doing that cause you to need to recode the car ?

No TPMS PSI/TEMP display unfortunately. Seems like it's related to build date, but even then can be hit/miss. But I figure, it does more than I'm used to and I know at this point when my tires are warmed up or not, so temp display is kind of redundant--but would be nice.

No update on the NAV yet... it's got the 2009-2 Premium which seems to do everything I'd need it to. But will consider that for the near future.

Thanks Rajeek! btw, i'm following your paddle shift retrofit...I did it on my e38, so I'm hoping it's doable for our F01. You'd think so since they do have it available on the 2013 msport. For the e38, we had to get creative with splicing wires, but overall is was pretty easy. Worst case maybe we can just do that!

Oh, took a look at the AEs during the day and I could easily see them from the reflection of a dark green pickup truck about 3 car lengths away, so I'd say at least they're bright enough for that.
