Opinion of value of 2009 M3 sedan?

Mates - I'm looking at possible purchase, via private party sale, of a MY2009 M3 sedan. Alpine White w/black interior. 45,000 miles on the clock. Premium, Technology and Cold Weather packages. Auto trans. New tires. Two prior owners. Clean Carfax report, and I had a personal conversation with the service manager at dealership that sold it to seller who says it was in for routine maintenance just a little over a month ago and is a very solid car with no apparent issues. All service and maintenance completed as necessary. Seller has extended BMW maintenance coverage to 100,000 miles or/Oct. 2015, and there is still original factory warranty for another 5000 miles/couple of months. Also has tire warranty coverage until mid-2016. No issues whatsoever with condition of exterior or interior. Looks to be very clean.

I appreciate this is a pretty broad question, but can anyone weigh in to tell me what they think would be a fair private party purchase price for the car? My first foray into the M3 world so I'm in the dark here. Thanks much!

Thanks, pkim, for your reply and information about your deal. Yes, there are a number of other quasi-similar cars out there, but the asking prices have a fairly wide range, from upper $30,000's to high $40,000's. I was hoping members who own similar cars would have a solid sense of what their cars might fetch if they put them on the market and share that info. Or, members like you, who might have recently purchased something similar who are willing to share what they thought might be a good number to shoot for as a potential buyer.

The owner of the car I'm looking at is asking $45,000. My sense is that's somewhat high for a MY'09 with 45k miles. Just looking for some direction from someone more fluent in M3 valuation to perhaps provide a bit of guidance to assist me in the negotiation process.

I shopped M3s for about 9 months before I pulled the trigger on a 10 E90 with 20K on the clock. I paid 44.9 for that, and its loaded. I got a good deal and lucked into that one. 45K for an 09 with 45K miles seems high to me. I think somewhere between 39-41 would feel a little better. What do the standard car sites like edmunds,kbb,nada,etc...say?

Agreed 45 is high. Can you put in a reasonable offer? I would put 40k as an offer. There are plenty of '11 going around at better deals. May cost a little more but worth that much more. 45k is a lot of miles!
