F22 / F23 2 Series (2014 - Current)
The 2 Series coupe is the replacement for the E82/E88 1 series coupe. Production starts in November 2013 on the 228i (N20) and M235i (N55) coupes. Look for them in dealerships in February 2014. The convertible F23 2 series will follow in the fall of 2014.

2 Series Coupe on the Ring

BMW 2 series coupe nurburgring

BMW continues to test the 2 series. We catch the latest test mule on the famed Green Hell, otherwise known as the Nurburgring Nordschleife. This test mule is a M235i, distinguishable by the 19" wheels, M front bumper and dual tail pipes. The 228i, which is also being tested by BMW sports a less aggressive front bumper, 18" wheels and left side tail pipes.

We will continue to see the camouflage stripped away front the test mules right until we get the official photos from BMW. Production starts in November so stay tuned, official details will be coming soon!

As the new "4 series" is growing to be as big as the old 6 series, the new "2 series" looks really promising. City streets, garages, and parking spaces have not grown at the same pace as cars over the last 15 years, so I can see the 2-series being very popular for urban Bimmerfiles.

I'm looking forward to the new 2 series, although I cannot wait until 2014 for it bc my lease is up in a couple of months. Hopefully it'll be fantastic bc I do like the idea of a smaller coupe a la E46.

I agree, I am looking forward to the 2 series very much. I live in SF, so I know what you are talking about about the importance of the size of cars.... Plus, the bigger heavier cars have lost some of their "fun factor"
