Loud metallic ping when switching gears

I had searched on this problem a while ago and found something that made sense, but can no longer find it.

Problem: e90 automatic, go from park to drive/reverse and a very loud ping (can be hard from 50+ feet) is made. This also happens sometimes when I start moving after a stop light on a hill.

Many solutions mentioned serious transmission problems, but one that seemed to make more sense mentioned a part (bushing?) that holds the transmission in place. It sounds like a hammer with a small head hitting a heat shield (kind of). Anyone remember this post of experience this problem?
