Good and affordable BMW mechanics in Houston area

Hi - i am looking for a mechanic who would be able to diagnose and manage a valve cover gasket leak on my 2007 328i.
Please let me know if anyone has a good experience in Houston. Yelp is not of much help.

Pick one you like, they are all BMW independent mechanics that charges half than the BMW dealer service!

Ask for Hans. Have used them for over 20 years. Great guys. They are probably not the cheapest indie in town but honesty goes a long way. They will shoot straight with you.

Bavarian Machine Specialties and TX German Autohuas are the only 2 I would trust to do top quality work, neither are necessarily inexpensive, but are still much less expensive than the dealer. Metropolitan Collsion is the best for body work.

+1 on Metropolitan. Have used them a couple of times. Excellent work. Made the mistake of having the dealer's body shop repaint a door that had a bad door ding in it since it was in for some other work and I could kill two birds with one stone. You'd think a dealer's body shop would do a first class job, right? Nope. Big mistake. Took them 4 times to get it right. And these were not me being picky or OCD. These were glaring issues which were easily spotted. So much for saving some time.

Hey guys
Got this reply from a service shop

"Here is the estimate for replacement of the valve cover gasket. Now some of the BMW's use aluminum attachment bolts for the valve cover if yours has them then the y must be replaced

labor $635.00
valve cover gasket $49.00
aluminum bolt set $77.00
tax $10.40"

Is the labor charge overrated or ok?
Also as I consider getting the gasket replaced - should I get the spark plugs changed as well?
Any other things you would suggest for replacing - my car has 59000 miles currently
Thanks

Re: Good and affordable BMW mechanics in Houston area

I found a very good shop. MPH in Northwest Houston. Excellent and more importantly honest work. Had multiple electrical failure messages on my 5 series. Originally took it to dealer. They were courteous but I could not develop a comfort level with them. I was told that it would be $425 just to start looking. Took it to MPH and Mike diagnosed and fixed for 46 bucks. Highly trained and reputable. New to Houston and this was a goldfind.
