E82 / E88 1 Series (2008 - 2013)
BMWs throw back to the iconic 2002, with a renewed form and function. The smallest car in BMW's line up but still packs a punch. Available in coupe or convertible, powered by either an inline 6 in the 128 or the twin turbo rocket sled 135.

Dtc

I am new to the world of BMW. Just picked up my 128i a couple weeks ago. Unsure on the "DTC". The owners manual says this helps traction in poor conditions, snow, etc. Shoudl I have this engaged in all driving conditions? When I start my car, is the DTC automatically engaged or not?
Sorry for my ignorance.

it's your traction control basically. if you turn it off, you'll be much more likely to see the mean side of the car

When it says "poor", it means _really_ poor. Like the snow. You'll have a hard time rocking your car back and forth out of deep snow with DTC on, for example.

Other than ridiculously bad conditions and racetracks (or autocross courses), there's little upside to turning it off. Tenths of seconds just don't count on the morning commute.
