Unhappy meisterschaft ev control exhaust

my ev control on my 2011 550xi stopped working after 7 months, called the company and they said the warranty is only good for 6 months considering i have driven the car only 10 times from dec to middle of april. The local dealer (next mod) can't help with warranty, paid 4k for the exhaust -- sounds good but bad quality motor control. anyone looking to buy this exhaust skip the ev control. It will cost u $600 to get the new unit, it's costly if they r build to last for 6 months.

No offense, but things like this just need to be used - more often than 10 times in 4 months.

BS. I would be pissed. Keep complaining. The OEM should step up and take care of the repair. Else I would be doing exactly what you are doing, posting everywhere about your experience.

Good Luck.

paid 4 grand and $500 for installation. Do u guys think i got ripped off. Could it be that the controls r not made for canadian winter with all the road salt that corrodes the exposed parts. Love the sound but sometimes u take the family out it's nice to mute the sound for the kids. To no avail i guess i have to give up the fight for the warranty, cause they will do nothing about it. Hope no one has to go the same experience as me. Will keep my eyes out for new exhaust.

First of all, $4000 seems to be the going rate for the EV exhaust. $500 for install is higher than an average exhaust but keeping in mind that the installer had to mount and wire a switch for the EV control, maybe a bit high, but doesn't strike me as a total rip off.

Next to real problem, do you know why the EV portion isn't working? I assume the installer put this switch on a fuse? Have you checked to see if you have a blown fuse. If not, what component failed? The install seems to be a switch, some wires, and a couple of solenoid valves. What is the OEM sending you that could possibly cost $600????

definitely not the fuse cause i can hear the motor trying to turn n than stop, the installer said the valve is seized. he mention taking out the back portion and manually try to close off the valves or leave it slightly open to tone down the noise, do u think it might work?

If you are giving up on warranty, sure take it apart and see if you can free up the valve. What do you have to loose?

Can you access the moving valve through the exhaust tip. Give it a little help maybe?

I never said the OP shouldn't try to get it sorted out - but with a mechanism as exposed to corrosion/deposit as anything exhaust, "use it more often" is probably what he will be told.

Has your exhaust continued to work? Anymore problems?
