Hey everyone! I joined the Bimmer community last Friday and have been stocking this forum ever since.

Shes a 335XI with 19in HRE's, Dinan exhaust, Dinan stage 2 power upgrades, KW coilovers, Steering wheel with built in tach, Escort Passport 9500ci, and some GP Thunders in the mail. Most likely getting the black kidney grills and black vinyl to cover the door trim. Has anyone done their door trim? Looking for some tips or a how-to to see if I want to do it myself.

Anyways, looking forward to meeting you guys! Any Colorado locals?

At least 5 people didn't tell you to search "door trim"...

I've noticed they are not the most friendly bunch, but there is some good information within the walls.

Good looking car btw, I just got my first 335xi a couple of weeks ago... fun!

Thanks! Glad to hear from someone.

I've noticed a lot of threads go unanswered in here.

Actually, this is a pretty good forum and the members ARE friendly and helpful. I received lots of good advice before I bought my car which guided me in the right direction. Without their help I wouldn't done near as well. If you pose a thought out question on a legitimate issue after doing a good search you will receive plenty of good responses. There is a lot of information already posted on almost every subject BMW.

My 335 is bone stock, so I can't help you on the vinyl question, but welcome to the BMW community. Your car looks great and I am sure you will enjoy it. Congratulations.

The steering wheel lights up showing rpms and a lap timer, temp gauge, and g force sensor. I think it's a pretty cool little add on.

Cool steering wheel. Everyone's fairly friendly here but there's always a couple of bad apples in a bunch I think the response might have been slow because usually most people introduce themselves in the New Member part. Trust me you haven't seen a tough crowd....not only may people tell you "use search" but see the sentiment you'll get if you post a topic with this title, "Can I put 87 in my car?"

Thanks!!!!

I can see the annoyance of seeing the same topic posted on here again and again. But I've realized that some searching doesn't come up with the right answers. Like the trim question for example. I think I've been searching "window trim" all week and haven't came up with ****. After switching it up to "door trim" as mentioned above I found a little bit more information that I wanted. What I'm trying to say is that we shouldn't automatically assume a person hasn't tried to look around before he/she asks on a post. Also, shouldn't topics be revisited often since new products and techniques are created daily?

That is seriously the sweetest I have ever seen. It almost makes me want to buy a 3 series and get that steering wheel. Not even kidding...

We do have a tendency to be quite the snarky bunch, and every now and then you may get a "omg y u no use search function ," but it's best to take those responses in stride. Besides, sometimes one who doesn't feel like searching is perhaps just craving the interaction - though thoroughly researched questions prior to post are much appreciated. And yes, sometimes Google doesn't yield the specific answers we are looking for.

Welcome to the family, and you've got a sweet ride there. I'm especially partial to your steering wheel.

The steering wheel is the original iteration of the BMW M Performance steering wheel. The current version is slightly different, with a flat bottom, larger OLED display and I believe a few new functions. It can be yours for the low, low price of $1,495.00 [$1,653.00]* plus tax and installation. There is also a version available without the electronics (basically just the Alcantara cover) for about half that.

Welcome aboard! Now go enroll in some driving schools and get that beast out on a track where it belongs!

*Suggested retail price. Figures in [ ] apply to vehicles with automatic transmission.

I was thinking about getting the Permance Steering Wheel with the OLED, but I feel like it's too much to be looking at all the time, especially if your car is a daily like mine is. Now, I'm starting to have interest in the P3 Vent Gauge. It gives almost all the same reads as the Performance Steering Wheel, minus G-force reader and shift lights, but that's what JB4 is for. And if you still perfer the feeling of the performance steering wheel you can get one without the OLED. Im not sure if buying just the OLED performance wheel is cheaper than the P3 and the regular Performance wheel, but Im sure glad that BMW aftermarket has options!

The steering wheel is only on when you want it to be. When you start the car it will say BMW Performance and immediately shut off until your ready to use it.

Welcome to you and your sweet ride. I know of a few posters who list the Springs as their location. Can't recall names (RKind?) offhand though. Have fun taking it through the mtn twisties, especially with the forced induction! Although I would keep it off of Mt Herman, that place eats CV boots...
