X3 2012 driver airbag cover peeled

Hi All,

Please find the attached photo. Driver airbag cover is peeled and the top rubber part is damaged. Is there any shop/site where I can buy that airbag cover (not the complete airbag).

Thanks for your time and suggestions.

Welcome to the forum!!!

It looks like the horn is used more than the tires in India.

What does the BMW dealership say about part availability?

Might I suggest my Kahlenberg D-1 Chimetone air horns? They push out more than 130dBA at 1 meter and are useful to relocate any obstructions.

Hi,

Thanks for your replies.

>>>What does the BMW dealership say about part availability?
They are telling that complete airbag unit is available and costs around 70k INR. They don't have an option for the cover.

>>>Dang! Isn't that covered under warranty??
BSI and warranty are there for 120000kms / 6 years. But BMW saying it shouldn't come under BSI/Warranty since its a problem happened from the user.

I could find some options in eBay and all for the cover, but not exactly for this model.

Thanks,

FYI, the 70K INR (Indian Rupee) is $1,132.

The replacement must be exact, because the airbag deploys rapidly.

We were driving through a tunnel last night, so I tried-out the horn. It was nice...

For my '11 X3, the cover is not listed as an available BMW part, just the complete airbag module. The list price for the module in the US is $925.20, or just over 57k INR.
