I did not get any freebies but I my car price was great so didn't matter. So it all depends on how much down did you negotiate your price ?

Re: Freebies when picking up?

The price you paid should have nothing to do with dealer "gifts" post purchase. Unless your sales guy is a tool, you should ask for things like winter mats, mugs, keychains, hats, mugs, etc. Most dealers have a gift shop. They are given budgets for customer appreciation. Help them spend it.

I got full sets of winter mats, shirts, hats, keychains, tumbler, mug. And my wife got a big ass bouquet of flowers.

Of course the price you pay has everything to do with the freebies. If I picked up my X3 $500 below the price charged to anybody else in the dealership I should not expect the freebies to come with it.

Freebies when picking up?

My car came with wheel locks and I got 2 bmw dealer keychains. I think it does have something to do with the price paid. I got it at 8.67% below MSRP and it was a custom order.

Or maybe I'm just making myself feel better i thought I would get more lol.

Sounds like someone paid too much for their car

Does anyone really think these dealer freebie are truely free? All dealers have a bottom line and they still need to make a profit.

well, only got $2,600 off the $53,295 sticker. My dealer had to search for my car and found it in Philly PA., then had it shipped to Upstate N.Y. They gave me a nice key chain, 2 coffee mugs, a few polishing cloths...thats about it I'm affraid. I was just happy I did not have to order and wait for delivery. I was happy to get all the options and color I wanted.

I know X Men; looks like next time I will be more patient. I tried 3 different dealers and the other two wanted me to order one; diden't even offer to look elsewhere. Not driving in the winter because its TERRIBLE in Syracuse N.Y. Salt and cinder is heavy here. I see cars that are just a few years old that have rust pushing through.

Freebies when picking up?

I got a gift certificate to use at the dealership's store. It was enough for a hat and a travel mug.

Freebies when picking up?

I received 2 large ceramic BMW mug, $250 gift certificate and 20% off accessories the day of the delivery. Gift card seemed nice, but everything is obscenely expensive it really isn't that much.

[QUOTE=The X Men;7560655]Sounds like someone paid too much for their car

No, sounds like some of you roll over and play dead when it comes to negotiating and asking your SA to hook you up. I pay cash for my cars and only wholesale or well below.

The dealer never makes a dime on me. Sounds like they have no trouble making up the delta with the next guy who needs 100% financing including sales tax, extended warranty, service, and tire protection. And then their happy with a keychain.....d'oh!

There is a sucker born every minute.

Buying a car is a game and if you play by their rules...you are going to lose. Don't be shy and walk away if you have to. Never buy on emotion.

Free advice over.

Peace.

You do realized that now a days paying cash for a car actually reduce your negotiation power. Let me ask you, what exactly is the dealer's wholesale price? If you mean invoice price, it is very possible to go below that, but that is not the dealer's cost. If you think for one minute that any dealer would sell you a car at a lost, you more gullible than you know.

Did you ever consider I might be in the car business, related to someone who is, have a good relationship with a dealership, or perhaps just a really savvy consumer? Again, there are plenty of people out there making up dealer profits on new sales for the people who don't. Dealers don't make the money they use to on new cars because of the internet...period. They make it on service, parts, used stock, and emotional consumers.

Plenty of cash/wholesale deals to be had (not invoice, which is another marketing ploy BTW). You just have to work at it.

Secret? Quid-Pro-Quo. Help someone out and they help you.

Be honest, keep it simple, and don't get emotional. It's a car....not a rare gemstone.

Actually, if you want the best money deal on a car, never, ever, ever, buy new. But if you have to have that new car smell, then you have to work at it or just go ahead and do your best negotiating. I realize most people don't have the patience or time to really grind away at the process or cultivate relationships in the biz.

Best of luck!

Well, if you are in the car business, I would imagine its pretty easy to buy any car at dealer cost or below, but that is not what this thread is about.

I'm not in or affiliated with the car business at all. I couldn't be further away from it and actually i'm just "Joe consumer" . You are the one making the assumptions, dude.

This thread was about freebies and apparently my delivery day bounty touched a nerve with a few, especially X Men.

All I can say is if you don't make your dealer work for your hard earned bucks, then don't complain. Ask for everything. The worst they can say is no.

I'll just throw my opinion in there, I think it has something to do with the relationship you have with your CA. My regular CA who handles my EDs gives me all sorts of free stuff, last time he topped it off with an iphone 4 cradle. On our most current purchase, I went around to a countless number of dealerships and got a great price above invoice, in the end I got a few key chains. Over the years I've gotten coffee mugs, travel containers, and other accessories.

Your so called bounty did not hit any nerve at all, I read threads from guys like you everyday on the forums. If I say I got my car for $1000 under invoice, you have to top it by saying you got $2000 under invoice. I I tell you my car gets 25 MPG, you have to top it by saying you get 35 MPG. You know what, more power to you my friend, you are one savvy customer by getting all those BMW accessories like baseball caps or coffee mugs from your salesman
