Exclamation 2002 Bmw 318ci e46 cut out and no start

Hi,
A few weeks back my BMW randomly cut out whilst driving. I have a friend who's a mechanic and he plugged it in to get a cam sensor fault. This was replaced and the error codes wiped. As we tried to start the car again (with jump leads) it still fails to start up, there is some popping but no roar. Can anyone help here?

Just a thought. Get your friend to check fuel pressure at the rail on the engine. When was fuel filter last changed? Fuel pumps last anywhere from 6-12 years, dying from time as much as miles.

Also, if it was not a genuine bmw sensor that may be the problem. Aftermarket rarely work out. Could also have just gotten a bad one but unlikely. It's probably something else that caused the cut out and the cam sensor was just close to dying and threw a code. Older cars, multi-failures.....
