Need to terminate lease with ORIGINAL dealer?

I'm buying my buddy's 2010 328i coming off lease. We're having the dealer act as a conduit in the transaction to avoid double taxation.

Do we need the original dealership which set up the lease, to handle the lease termination and immediate sale to me?

Can't any BMW dealer handle this transaction??

I have no experience with BMW but usually it doesn't matter. Call whatever dealer you're thinking about processing the transaction though and ask them if they can do it.

I guess that's the way to go, but it would be nice to know for sure what BMW's policy is, because I frankly have learned to trust almost nothing that dealers say.

No, you do NOT have to use the same dealer to terminate the lease. You can go to any dealership.
