335i over heated last night. Need some suggestion for dealership

2008 335i
36,000 Miles.
Under certified warranty.

ON free way red over heating light came out, wouldnt allow to accelerate or what not for obvious reasons. I towed the car. Noticed either it was coolent or oil splashed over engine as if some hose was ruptured. It was on free and around midnight so couldnt see more.

Dealership called and said it was over heated. What do i need to ask them before i leave dealership once its fixed. I mean this shouldnt happen for a 36k miles car. ? not to mention the car was sitting parked for 2 days before i took it out last night.

should i be asking them if they checked this or that. sorry have no clue what to say or ask from this point , hence asking for your suggestions.

Thanks

Probably your water pump. What can you say? Get it fixed?

At least you are under warranty. Stuff happens, mine went out at 42K, 2,000 miles outside my factory 4 year warranty.

Oh, then you must have been driving when my car broke down on Hwy 101! And you must have called the tow truck driver while waiting beside the freeway? And had the indy misdiagnose the problem as a bad radiator cap. No, I mean 42 K.

My car went past the 4 year factory warranty. 50,000 miles is moot. And I was the loser. I distinctly remember.

Ah? You said it yourself you were 2000 miles outside of your 4-year warranty

Yes, but isn't it 4 yr OR 50K miles? So, 42K would be correct for him.

try to get a free oil cooler!!!!! contact bmw na if you don't have one and complain!

That housing unit is wicked expensive even if you have to upgrade later to have it all set to go would be a major savings.

Can you explaion exactly "Try to get a free oil cooler". ?

So pretty much here is the deal. I got a call from BMW dealer.. saying cooler pump was replaced under my extended warranty.

However they are recommending me do Engine Coolant flush and Power steering flush.. $170 + 100 something..
Do i really need this now?

A lot of the 07-08 guys with no coolers caused enough of a stink proving that the car overheats without it, and have been able to get free ones installed either by dealer or running it up the chain at bmwna... Just read around about it.

But overheating without the add-on oil cooler wouldn't have left fluid on the ground like the OP reported, would it?

Hey guys, my dealer recommended an air flush out of each tire to get the stale air out and the fresh, fortified air in from their special filtered inflator which will smooth out my ride and lengthen the life and effective service since the air will be non disruptive once in the tire. This will also help keep the "trueness" of the tire which is critical to the consistent day to day ride performance they tell me. They quoted me $179.00 to perform the service. I have an appointment Thursday to get this done. They also said they would then test drive my vehicle for up to 50 miles pushing it up to 140mph speeds to test the effectiveness of the service and report back on any inconsistencies and further issues that might surface. For some reason, I'm feeling a little skeptical about this but it sounds like a solid deal??? Nobody else is willing to do that for me so far. I just have to make sure the tank is 3/4 full with 93 octance to ensure results are comparable to their other tested vehicles. I'll be without the car until the next day.
