Brake light on and Car on lift

my BRAKE light came on and the Car on lift is on, both red
I know my brakes are ok, I have a min of 1/4 inch of pad left all the way around

this all happened when I tried to hook the inboard head lamps to come on,
Yea bad idea

found out someone took the rear brake sensor off and didnt replace it, wonder why after 7 months it just now figured it out
