don't delete the cats. just the mufflers. unless you have bad cats. the deletion of the cats will give your car too raspy of a growl. too much drone. and the 02 sensor will just throw the codes wit out the cats. besides the annoying service engine soon light you car should be just fine.

I don't have any personal experience with cat delete but know a few that have hollowed them out. They simply zip tied the post O2 sensors up out of the way. No codes as the DME see enough difference between pre and post sensors.

Re: Cats

Do either of you think I will have a horsepower gain chopping the mufflers?

I just did a cat deletion because I was in need of a new one(did the other last year,) and well I have to say that it runs about the same as it did before. The Check engine light is one sad to say, but it runs fine. I tried some fancy little things in the post O2 hole and they did not work, I never thought of just hanging them up out of the way. I will have to try that and see if that does anything. I did notice that it is a hair louder when getting on it, but that is it as far as sound. It is making me think of doing different mufflers, or just cutting them out to.

^ you busted the honey come inside. that will eventualy clog up now and kick it out to the muffler and bits and pieces will come out.

scrap recyclng centers will give you about $80 per v8 cat. 4cyl cats go for $40-50. thatl pay for straight piping and lunch.(for us po folk)

And for the post cat O2's you can get one of these and never have a CEL.

I ran one of theses on my supercharged 540 with no issuses at all. You just "T" in the signal wire to both post cat O2 sensor signal wires and your good.
