IVM Module location in E53

Can anyone tell me where the IVM module is located on an e53 X5 4.4 please. I can't believe that the dealers young mechanics on Saturday had no idea.
I've read numerous threads on the subject of the IVM module going bad. I need to change mine.
Thanks in advance.

M62TU engine or N62 engine? Model/model year/build date info is VERY important...it helps us to help you better. The e53 X5 4.4 had two different engines from 1999-2006 build date.

After searching thru the part database for both engines..the N62 engine in the 4.4 & 4.8is has an IVM (I assume you mean the integrated supply module) located in the engine control box where the DME and other major modules and relays reside. Go to one of the part databases and enter this BMW part nbr in the search box: 12 52 7 510 638

IVM Module location in E53

on the 7 series, that was inside the engine bay computer box. there is a recall for those on the 7, paraffin evaporation over time in the solder joints. in the 7 it causes transmissions failsafes and no start conditions.
if you are unsure of the location of the engine computer box, it is front of the US passenger side fire wall under the hood.

Thanks guys for your quick reply, I have n62 motor and it was in the engine bay. I also installed it in minutes without disconnecting the battery.
Many thanks my fellow Bimmerites.

Well installed it 2 days ago and today monday the truck stop running and would start again. I had to boost it with my e36 m3 to get it started and get it back home. My lady says the radio died first by cutting in and out, then you get chimes and then if you look at dash all the cluster lights come on then 4x4 inactive and then trans fail safe. Which have been described here as being the IVM so spent the $200 to buy it and I replaced it. Any suggestions boys? I'm so frustrated.

Just to add, Previously it would give enough power like 50% to drive it still off the road etc. But now it acts up and just shuts down.

Exclamation

BL:
I had the same EXACT thing hit me ytd. The radio wasn't on so can't say about that, my heated seats and steering wheel didn't work right before, but the rest, the ABS, BRAKE, 4xR lights then fail-safe msgs then darkness, death and despair (despair mostly on my part when after a boost, the car started and I had no clue what the hell happened) i couldn't find anything on this subject until your post. Did you figure out what the culprit was? Also, at the time of these incidences, did you smell a faint electrical burning smell?
