Re: New wheels and tires what do yall think

How steady your steering wheel is after installing those wheels? 2 years ago I installed a set of after market rims with 18" tires, my steering wheel vibrated like crazy at low speed. I had to remove them and revert to the original ones.
What's your secret?

I am going to have to figure out how to down load pic's to here. I have installed 225/40-18's on my '95 740i with what I think are beautiful chrome rims...not gaudy like some. My neighbor outdid me with 235/40-20's on his '97 740il which also look great. The right rims, as you have shown can improve these already sharp machines.

Have you installed hub rings prior to mounting the wheels? Someone advised me to do so, to maintain stability. I had installed the exact same tire size as you, but too bad too much vibration. I was afraid that my transmission mount could be affected/broken if I kept them on.

I had no problems with vibrations or stability and assumed it was since I knew my alignment and balance was good. The 'spacers' would only be needed if you had a radical change in offset as I understand it. See if the attached websites help.

I don't often like black rims, but these are real sharp on your real sharp ride.
