Best Deal on Extended Factory Warranty

I'm now in the 40,000+ mileage point on my 2011 X5d. Concerned about extending the factory warranty. Would anyone know who is offering the best price on BMW extended factory warranties?

Thanks for any and all feedback.

When I purchased my BMW Extended Vehicle Protection warranty over a year ago, Patrick Casey had the best prices. His e-mail is pcasey@bmwpartssource.com

I just picked up an '07 4.8l with 44,000 miles, today.
BMW Dealer, Erhard of Farmington Hills, MI, quoted $3,450, quote good till about 50k miles.
I think it was ACS.

I'm thinking about it.

So this is an aftermarket warranty, not the "factory" warranty the OP is asking about???

The problem with their aftermarket plans is they vary from dealer to dealer and state to state- coverage is impossible to compare. Impossible. There just simply isnt enough info disclosed by any of them to make a real comparison. And then you have the "will the company be belly up when I need them?" question.

At that price, I'd just buy a BMW plan from Daniel at Pacific...no funny business, you know what you have, future buyers can value it, BMW will always back the plan.

I am considering a extented warranty program being sold by my dealer which is not a BMW plan but a third party plan. The company is called SAL (www.salgroup.com) out of Vancouver B.C.

Their plans are: Basic, Preferred, Classic, Superior and Superior Wrap.

The one I have been quoted for is the Classic for $4200.00 for my 2009 X5. It includes:
Basic Plan: Engine, Turbocharger/Supercharger, Transmission, Transfer case, Drive axle.
Preferred:Basic plan + Steering, Brakes, Electrical, Air Conditionerand Fuel system
Classsic: Basic + Preferred + Front and Rear Suspension, Cooling System, Enhanced Electrical.

Plan is for 50,000 kms or three years with $100 deductible. It also includes 24/7 roadside assistance, rental coverage of $50/day (upto $250), Trip interruption $100/day (upto $300), if returned to selling dealership deductible reduced by $50, transferable, no out of pocek expenses i e they pay directly to service provider.

Has anyone purchased from them and what is your experience?

^^ dealer is probably making 1500-2000 on that sale...or more. 50k kms is only 30k miles... crazy price for not much, IMO

Without the actual POLICY, the 'coverage' in the little brochure is worthless.

Out of respect to the sponsors, folks are hesitant to post the deals they get...

I suggest that people post what they paid ONLY. If someone needs to know more there is PM. Or you can decline to say.

But just knowing the going rates is a big help...

I got the the same range. think was 3,600 2 additional years. They did say the 2,500 BMW extended maintenance was not worth it for me. If the SUV has 36,000 in 4 years will be lucky.
Was only thinking if keep past the warranty time and cost of diesel repairs. On a low mileage unit like mine, I could pay for repairs at $3,600 or apply it to a new vehicle.

txagbmw,

When I bought my Extended Vehicle Protection (Platinum 7 year 70K miles --- due to my low mileage), I also purchased the Maintenance Program Upgrade.

My reason for purchasing the Maintenance Program was that there are no good indies anywhere near me. As long as I live where I am, I will probably have it dealer-serviced. I would not recommend the Maintenance Program Upgrade purchase to anyone.

BMW plan or no-name?

throwing around numbers and descriptors like "bumper to bumper" is worse than useless....

You can really only price compare the SAME PLAN. In this case it is the FACTORY plan that the OP is requesting

Thank you for chiming in and clarifying that anything other than BMW is "no-name". My warranty is bumper to bumper. I didn't know that you would get offended by that term. I guess some are more uptight than others. Have a nice day!

Why not post the name of the company you bought it from and the level you bought and let all of us chime in. I am guessing it is nowhere close to what you get buying a new car.

"Bumper to bumper" sounds like something Lee Iacocca might have said in 1979.

First line of "This agreement does not cover..." is "1. Vehicles over one ton". So one can forget about the X5.

Re: Best Deal on Extended Factory Warranty

I will state that I paid 1700 for the BMW powertrain plus 5 year/100 k, fits my 36/30k per year lease, I have no intention of purchasing extended maintenance as I plan to fill the DEF myself and just get the oil changed at the dealer, as far as brakes, my rears will be done under maintenance and the fronts I plan to do a low dust pad from the local indie.

I used to fix cars for 20 years, Most of the 3rd party guys go under, Not all shops will even deal with it, They may make you pay then submit the invoice to get paid.
do your self a favor always buy factory warranty.

I got the BMW EVP factory warranty for 7 years and up to 100,000 miles (I put a lot of miles on my X5) for $5000 with Patrick Casey. So far it's paid for an alternator and battery, door lock actuator, two rear tailgate struts which are very $$$, a leak in my front stabilizer bar for the Adaptive Drive system, and a wheel bearing. I still have another two years and 25,000 miles left on the warranty, so i think I'll do OK.

Is that the 'platinum' warranty? "EVP" is what they call all their warranties.

Very, very surprised it covered the battery- I am guessing they got it approved by telling BMWNA the alternator failed and killed the battery?

Yes, platinum which covers electronics.

The battery was replaced as part of the alternator repair. The car totally died on the expressway and had to be towed to the dealer. I assume the battery was replaced because it failed due to the alternator failing.
