2013 750i m-sport delivered via PLEIADES LEADER

I ordered my 2013 750i m-sport wht/blk (replacing my 2011 F01 740i m-sport blk/blk) back on March 15, and it's finally here!

Vehicle boarded the PLEIADES LEADER on 4/11 in route to the US. Thanks to the F30-33 (2012 - current model) board, I was able to catch it right after it cleared the Panama Canal. Some of the posters were able to catch still shots of the boat as it made it way through the canal. Here's a link: http://www.bimmerfest.com/forums/sho...=690165&page=2

I was also able to monitor the boat's voyage and progress via a couple of different sites shown here: http://www.marinetraffic.com/ais/def...0&type_color=7 and http://www.vesselfinder.com/?mmsi=432734000

Great experience, and kind of neat to be able to know the whereabouts of your ride.

I tried to find live webcams for several of the ports but was unable. However, on the F30 board, some people posted still shots of it from the San Diego live webcam. The link above has those shots.

I got in touch with the Port Hueneme office for NYK (vessel's parent company). Then I got the vessel's information to them and my BOL (bill of lading) and VIN, and Jay Adams who works there was so awesome to send the following pictures of my car.

The only thing missing from this was to see the car being built in Germany, and I'm sure there would probably be a way to do that. In fact, I heard, in some cases, they can actually send you pictures of it as it goes into production. On the F01-F02's it's about 2 days from inception to completion.

More to come when I take delivery. Probably some time next week.

I got to tell you, I was skeptical when I bought the 740 over the 750, and was worried I'd have V8 envy. At the end, I crave the throaty growl of the twin turbo 8, but the 6 was a very tight engine with excellent performance.

The one thing I hated was that it sounded really chintzy and not the typical 6 cylinder power-plant. My boss has the Porsche Panamera with the 6 cylinder engine, and it purrs like a kitty. It's also got a ton of torque and no occasional turbo lag.

Anyway, in the new 750i you certainly feel the 445 hp engine thrust you ridiculously forward as you try and contain yourself from cracking a big grin.

The 740 is a good way to save about $6k over the 750, but if you crave having all that power at the tip of your finger, or rather foot - then the 750 will not disappoint.

By the way, we're talking m-sport in both the trims being discussed here.

Look at all those loaners!

Kidding!!! Before some F30'ers come over and flame me

But in all seriousness congrats! White M Sports' seem to be popular (on here), funny enough I've yet to see another white M Sport 740/750 in-person, I've seen every other color but white strangely enough.

What options did you get?

Chris

That's funny. No, I forgot, but it's there. I got the BLACK Ash Wood option so it is 200% coming with the rear trim.

I was on the BMW build it site to see what some of the other colors look like, and opted for the white ash wood (individual option $1,080 upcharge) and the white napa leather, and I must say, it is unique and sorta looks good. How to keep it clean is a whole other question.

It breaks up the interior lines nicely and looks very concept-car-ish. I bet it's rare to see that. I'd be stressing about how it will look after a few years, and all the scuff marks it will show. I used to have a grey interior on my 2000 740iL and it would get so dirty and even after a good cleaning would still show that it was soiled a bit.

I would have never thought I'd say this, but I LOVE the look of that white nappa, black floor... I'm diggin' it brother! Great choices...

We need pics STAT when you get her in your hands... I'm very curious about the white ash grain!

That was in response to ChrisCheung. I didn't get the white ash wood. I was just discussing that if you did get that wood option, you'd get the rear trim piece which seems to be missing off of ALL f01/f02's that opt "FINELINE GLOSS WOOD" for the wood interior option.

I went to the dealer today and took a bunch of pictures of the FINELINE GLOSS WOOD option, and ASH WOOD option. Here are my findings. FINELINE GLOSS, YOU DO NOT GET THE REAR TRIM. Every other wood option, you GET the rear wood trim.

Clearly, you can see that it makes a HUGE difference. Also, if you look in your rearview mirror, you'll notice that you don't have the trim back there if you went with FINELINE GLOSS vs. Poplar, Ash, Birch, Birch with Inlay, Piano, etc. Just the FINELINE GLOSS you get screwed.

BMW what is the story??? Inquiring minds want to know!!!
