Last seat position on unlock vs door open?

On our 2013 E70 with comfort access, it seems that the last seat position for a certain key fob will only begin to move when the door is opened. On our '07 530, you could choose to have it move when the door was unlocked, before it was opened, but I don't see this option in the current version of idrive. This is kind of a pain since my wife's seat position is quite different from mine and I have to wait to get in. It might especially cause a problem if I was waiting in the rain for the seat to move!

Am I missing something or is there no way to change this?

My 2011MY E70 does exactly what yours does - seats adjust after the door is opened.

The external mirror on the other hand will adjust as soon as the door is unlocked.

Somewhat related - with the door left open you can press and let go of the memory buttons on the seat (M1 or M2) . . . but if the door is closed you have to press and hold the memory buttons (i.e. you cannot press and let go the buttons). This is a safety feature - with the door left open, BMW assumes you are standing outside, with the door closed they assume you are sitting on the seat and they don't want you to get squished by mistake - hence the press and hold requirement

My 2013 is the same, as well. It moves the seat once the handle is pulled, but not if it is only unlocked.

Somehow what was described above isn't happening with my 2013 X5 with Comfort Access.
Here is my setup:
Self : Keyfob A. Seating/mirror/steering wheel position stored as M1 with keyfob A in my pocket. Engine running. The other key in the house, at least 30 feet away.

Wife : Keyfob B. Her seating/mirror/steering wheel position stored as M1 with keyfob B inside the car. Engine running. My keyfob A inside the house.

When my wife unlocks the car with her key(B) and opens the driver's door after I drove home and locked the car with my key A, driver seat fails to move by itself to her stored position unless she presses M1.

What did I do wrong ?

Happy to report that key/seat memory is working as described/expected.
Thanks TCB for the reminder.
