I had Conti SSRs on my 335d. Picked up a screw in the tread. Went to a local Continental Tire dealer. They removed the screw, plugged and patched the hole. Drove it for another 25K miles, no problem. Cost: $16.

Tires should be of the same model for the same axle. Ideally, the same model for all 4. Because the car is new, I would tend to get the same model because you would be throwing away 3 new tires otherwise. If the tire was really lousy, then I'd buy 4 new ones. Almost new tires have some resale value but not much.

Discount Tire will repair RFTs. If they told you it needs to be replaced that would lead me to believe they determined the tire is not repairable.

It the screw is within about an inch of the sidewall of the tire most stores will not repair it. The screw would need to be in the center mass of the tread. Then a plug/patch can be used and the tire is good as almost new. You can tell just by looking if the hole is too close, they won't make the repair because they are liable for their work.

I took my car in for a tire repair on an RFT and Americas Tire (same chain as Discount here in SoCal) said that they would have to check "their list". Apparently they have a 'do not repair' list of certain brands of RFT's. They came back, said my tire was OK to repair, and I was on my way. I know that if the nail/screw is in the sidewall no one will or should repair it.

My mom had this problem... Discount tire / America tire has a list of do not repair tires and the conti ssr run flat is on it... Another shop should be able to repair it though.

Just buy a plug kit and do it yourself. Easy fix.

i got a loaner car from BMW dealer for 3 days (it was around a month ago)
328i 2013 , i think also Sport line (my car and the 328i come with the same wheels so i assume it's also sport?)

the 328i come with a performance tires , not rain/snow tire i got
i enjoyed the ride quality much more in the 328 , much less noise and vibration , not so stiff like in my car

328i and 335i use the same suspensions?
i don't know if my car is so stiff and harsh because of the tires or maybe 335i have stiffer suspensions and this is the problem.

i red that RFT tires are more stiffer , it's true?

anyway i want to replace those rain/snow tire since i live in Houston , and also i want more sportier feeling and grip.
any recommendation? i hear Pilot PS2 or Super sport are great tires.

last question:
i need more power
what will be the best combination to get more? Down-pipe/ECU/intake

335i M sport have original rear tire 255/40/18 ?!
can i use this wider tire also on my car?

Thanks

If you don't have M-sport these tires won't fit your rims.

Conti SSR is old (GEN2) tires, surprising that they are using that. That's the tire that came on my 2006.

dont rule out the possibility that the folks at the tire store sized up the customer and figured "we can make some $$ on this guy".

Read the document that came with the new tires/new car- it will say if the tire can be repaired.

i'm not sure if the very poor ride quality on my car it's a tires issue or too stiff suspension , someone have an idea?

I took mine to Les Swab, no questions, just fixed. It was a small nail in the main part of the tread. Somewhere on the net, I found something that said if the hole was not near the sidewall and less than 1/4" they can be safely patched.

forget to mention:

most of the time i like to drive hard , sport mode or turn off traction control
also i don't drive a lot of miles , around 10K miles a year.

so the Pilot Super Sport will be my best option?

what about my question about add more power ?

What you should do is read the freakin' tire warranty.

Shocking to me that you would go on a public forum and ask what you should do without even having popped the tire warranty CD into a drive to see if your tires are covered for road hazard.

The GoodYears on my F30 were -- and when I got a flat, the tire was replaced for nothing. I would be very surprised if the Continentals on your car also didn't have a road hazard warranty.

Are you in the habit of buying $50K+ items and not reading the warranties?

You really are a rube, eh? You asked the salesperson? You haven't bothered to open the tire warranty CD but you are happy to take the word of the salesperson?

Good luck to you.
