New Member & New Car! (e92 335i x-drive)

I purchased my new car one week ago today. It is a 2011 BMW 335i x-drive with 38,239 miles. It was a one owner and was purchased new from the same dealership where I bought her. She was a CPO and I also purchased the 100k maintenance warranty, the 3yr dent and ding removal option and had the front z-shield 3M guard. The car also came with a set of winter wheels with new Blizzaks (cold state of MN) which was a bonus on the purchase.

Car options include:
1. Premium Package
2. Technology Package
3. Cold Winter Package
4. Convenience Package
5. Sport Package
6. Harmon Kardon surround sound

I used to race and track day a Suzuki GSXR 1000 but I am getting older (and getting married) so I sold my old e36 and motorcycle to upgrade to this new toy! Couldn't be happier or....safer!

The service experience has been amazing at my new dealership @ Minnetonka BMW of Minnesota. I paid $38k OTD including the maintanence warranty, dent and ding coverage and z-shield installation....good deal?

Pictures as I bought it (still had winter tires on it at this time):

All feedback is welcome. Please provide thoughts, ideas, recommendation, flames, etc

Thanks guys, look forward to forum research.

Insanely nice car! One thing I keep kicking myself over is not getting the 335.... I love the white color.

So, today I received my new set of wheels and decided to paint my calipers thanks to my guy's idea to do em' red.

Did some research and really loved/preferred the 19 inch Breyton Race GTS in black wrapped in Hankook V12s. Chose the black due to contract against the AW and shadowliners.

Pretty awesome day working in the garage with a case o' beer and some music

I never thought of painting calipers..the red is a great contrast with the white. Brings out the interior too.

Nice looking car! Me and my brother in law just bought new cars from BMW of Minnetonka.

Did you buy your wheels locally?

Nope, got them off tirerack.com. Porter is awesome and I've worked with him before on BMW offset and fitments....highly recommended!

Thanks for the links. I was thinking the black kidney's but not sure about the exchange of emblems? Are they easy to get in the factory location. I do not want to mod her to death but I do think that would look nice with the theme I'm going for!

It's as easy as pie. Just get a ruler/straight edge and some masking tape and mark above and below the location of each number. Did mine in about 20 minutes.

Noice! I merely went to autozone and picked up the VHT caliper paint. This paint is certified up to 900 degree's F and no way the calipers will get that hot!

The biggest key is cleaning the calipers. We used high end brake cleaner, nice clean rag, a wire brush and turned the air tank up to 100psi and used air to blow off. This resulted in no bubbles in the paint. We used 3 coats on each caliper and the job turned out exceptional!

If you really want to set it off, bake em'. This requires removal which I wasn't into at this time.

Love the white/black/red combo you have going on. Great video, too.

That is a slick car my man. Great choice on interior and exterior. Spotless looking.

How much for the 4 corners (wheels, not tires)?

Thanks for the comments! I believe the rims were something like $275 each?...19x8.5 all the way around.

I feel the same way about my own car . AW was definitely not my first color but with the red interior and a few idea's, I love my own transformation of her.

I can't get over this engine. The intake sparked a monster in me! I wish the RB turbo's weren't so much.... lol

We pulled up against and e92 m3 the other day and got the thumbs up. This was the org. car I wanted to get but the maintenance, costs, bad in winter and terrible mpg scared me away. We'll just say I am happy with my purchase

Installed the BMS Intake and COBB Stage 1 map. Car drives, feels, sounds and pulls great! Very impressed and excited with the stage 1 setup. Not trying to go crazy on the car, but am looking to do FMIC and CP in the near future

As we say in CA: "Totally awesome"! Love how the caliper red "matches" the interior. Welcome to the forum!

Few updates: Thanks to you guys, I was able to DIY my kidney grills. Took 220 and 400 SP and nighthawk black paint with clear coat. 4 coats of paint and 2 coats of clear coat. Turned out flawless!
