key fob window operation

2008 328xi

just wondering if I am missing something or fob need to be programmed?

While holding the key fob and pushing the unlock button for 10 seconds I can get all 4 windows to go down and the sunroof to open. So I am assuming the fob is programmed

but how do I get the windows to go back up? I hold the lock button and nothing. am I missing something? or does it sound like it need to be reprogrammed?

I can get them ALL to go up if I use the valet key in the door and turn clockwise, just not with the fob.

thanks all in advance.
FYI this is our 1st BMW so we are learning

Your fob is working fine.

Besides using the valet key, the only way I know how to close all the windows from outside is to apply your finger to the lock ridges on the door handle. g/l

IIRC, it's a US programming thing... The legal beagles are afraid that little Johnny will get his head stuck in the window when todays average distracted parent closes it without looking... Forcing you to use the key absolves them of liability, since you need to be physically there to operate the key... All sorts of features work in Europe, verboten here because we are more litigious...

You can recode the car so it will go up.

You can recode the car so windows will go up with the lock button.

All you need to do is change a file parameter from nicht activ to activ.

There are quite a few hidden features that can be coded in they are listed
at the above board and in the following file.,d.cGE&cad=rja
