Park assist as front collision

Will my front sensor alert me , if I am about to rear end? Any buttons to press to keep the sensors active? The P park assist gets off after certain speed / drive time.

No, you need collision avoidance package. The sensors for parking are way too short of range to warn you of impending collision.

Correct: they are for low relative speed and close range. If you want something to warn you of collision, then you need a little more brains behind it. Collision avoidance package adds an actual camera to keep watch in front of you and takes into account the closure speed and how fast you are going.

Very likely the answer is no to retrofit. Collision avoidance requires electronics behind the mirror, a new module in the vehicle, and different lower dash on driver side: have seen non collsion avoidance/lane departure vehicles have a storage box by the drivers door near kneee. Vehicles with the two packages delete that storage box and the buttons for those functions are down there. Add to that the wiring harness needs to connect all of these parts.

You're better of using your eyes. They are free.
