Power Window Motors On BACK ORDER !!!

So.. We had been getting a "Window Anti Trap" Error since one week after delivery, which is about 3 weeks now with a faulty window. The dealer looked at it yesterday, and determined that it wasn't software and the actual motor needed to be replaced. Now mind you, this really wouldn't be a inconvenience to us if it was any other window other than the DRIVERS window which it is.

Basically what happens, if you press the button, the window only moves about 2-3 inches, so to get the window down you have to press it about 10 times or so, and 10 more to get it back up.

So they tell my wife that the window motors are on backorder till an unknown date !!!!!!! The part needs to come from Germany, and are not available. The service advisor even told her they they tried to get one from Spartanburg with no success.

Who in the world can I contact to try and move this along. I mean I dont think im unreasonable to be pissed off here since its the drivers window. Its already been three weeks, and the part was just put on order yesterday !

Thanks for reading my rant !

Years ago my mother drove a Chrysler and the steering rod broke effectively making the power steering useless. Very difficult to turn the steering wheel for a woman with arthritic hands. I very sternly told the dealer they had two choices for a part that was also on back order - take one from an existing car sitting on the lot or take back the lemon of a car they sold us. Unbelievable, the part was there within 36 hours.

Be firm with your dealer. Unacceptable.

Hey, I had an old Mercury Tracer (aka Ford Escort) with a bum drivers side window. Went for years until I found a replacement motor. A real pain when parking at the airport or trying to pick up the mail, especially in the rain/snow. At least your BMW part is still being made! Hope it's resolved quickly.

I would not think each window motor is unique, just the gear mechanism. If they are identical have them swap out one of the rears until the other arrives. It's twice the work but its their fault they don't stock spare parts.

Realoem doesn't have part numbers for the '14s yet. On a '13, all four window motors have a different part number.

Realoem is slow to update their catalog.

That's good information. Perhaps the part number difference is because the mounting hardware is unique to the location. From a practical standpoint, I just can't see why the motor itself would differ by position if torque requirement, voltage, etc. are the same.

But what do I know. I'm just guessing. However, I bet the parts department could confirm.

An update for you guys.

My service advisor told me today that the part number between the 2013 and 2014 has changed for the window motor.

I really don't understand why?? Can anyone confirm?

BTW... It still has yet to be repaired.

I have no visibility into 2014 part numbers. Realoem is slow to update, and is only up to 1/2013 build dates.
