Getting a new car next year need opinions

I've decided that I'm selling my 535xi next year and going to upgrade. I'd like to get opinions from the guys who have actually drove these cars. I'm looking at a newer f10m5 the competitors are Mercedes c63 / E63 so for those of you who have driven these cars how for hey compare and which one did you like better and why? Where I'm from I'd have to drive 5 hours to Chicago to test drive them so like to see what you guys think!

I drive the F10 M5 and had a 2010 535i with Dinan Stage 2. I test drove a 550 CLS which has a nice big engine but it's not like the AMG. It wasn't impressive. It's a nice car and luxurious inside but it's lines aren't appealing to me as much as the M5. The M5 is tons better than the 535i. It's got the same luxury inside as the 7 series but it's the top of the line in performance for any sedan that BMW makes. The M6 would be a bigger coupe than the M3 and I drove the 650 and didn't like it because it's too low. I am 6'4" and I don't get in and out of such a low slung car any longer at 57 years old. I drove a Corvette when I was in my early 20s and it was always a hassle to get in and out of. Anyway, I digress, I think the M5 is the best choice and you will be very happy with it over your 535.

Do your homework. For less money you can do better and get close to the same driving experience that is more practical for everyday driving. Think about all wheel drive as well for year round driving. Both mercedes and audi are making high end sports sedans that compete with the M5 in all wheel drive. Then again there's always the 550 x drive dinan stage 5. Espcially being from wisconsin, all wheel drive sounds very practical.

Don't want to turn it into another RWD vs AWD discussion, although you don't really need AWD if you have good winter tires, if I had been able to do a September or later ED, I probably would have opted for the new E63AMG with AWD over the M5 I am getting next month.

I'm moving to Tampa in November I have had enough of these cold Wi winters so the awd doesn't really matter much to me at this point. If I'm going to upgrade it would be to the m5 not the 550. I've looked at the m3 but like the luxury of the m5 and after some research the Mercedes is out. Although the new Audi Rs A7 sounds amazing I'm looking to buy used with lower miles but at the same time I can not find a 2012 m5 anywhere. I know that they did not make them in 2011 was 2012 m5 less as well?

Go on autotrader. As of last week there were over 400 2012 M5's for sale, with plenty of low miles 2012 available. Bmw over saturated the the u.s. market with them. If you look hard enough you find them with good options for $ 85,000.00 to $ 90,000.00. Great car, less than 1 year old and has depreciated depending on the msrp, $ 12,000.00 to $ 20,000.00 in less than a year. Non m cars are depreciating less. By the way the M car that holds it's value best is the M 3, it's also the best driving m car and in highest demand. Try finding a 2011 six speed.

I do the same search for M6 and 550i and I come up with 397 and 405 cars also. Here is a perfect example of a wannabe 2013 M5 priced at $82,000

http://www.autotrader.com/cars-for-s...28503226&Log=0

Here is the problem though, all you get for that is Dakota Leather and a plastic dash and other plastic trim. There is a fancier one with Nappa Leather but without mods for $83k at Clear Lake BMW and if you spend $20k in mods, you get close to the M5 for the same price bit it's still not an M5.....

You won't find 2012 M5 because they weren't available here in the US, you will have to look for 2013 M5 or you can just put in 2012-2104 for the dates.

The difference **** for brains is the 400 m6 and 550's are from 2011 at 400. The 2013 m5 has the same number available in only 8 months of being for sale. The reality is the entire 5 series line, including the over priced m5 is bmw's biggest cash cow. Cheapest to make with the highest profit margin, I know this for a fact.

Except I put 2012-2014 in the search for both of them. I will grant that BMW has oversupplied the M5 for now which makes it a good deal. As I explained, I got a good deal on mine. What I do see at my dealer are 4 550i that have been there for three months and are not selling. They have tons of 535 and 528's which seem to sell but not these four poor 550i's. They have also sold their M5's as far as I can tell. They might have sent one to another dealer but now I am not so sure as I saw a guy getting his plates for a black M5 he bought three weeks ago. That is one I thought they had sent to Houston.

The used one in Houston and the used one in Dallas sold already, they were priced to sell. However, they didn't have full leather which is something I wanted. So I paid a little more. I also didn't know how they were driven in the break in period and that is very important for these cars. Not so much on a 550 since there is no break in period.

Well just to let you know by the end of next week my 550 will be retired and I will be the proud owner of a e 63 amg mb 2013. So you probably will not hear from me much any more. Enjoy your m5. LOL.

In three years when I am 60 I might join you. For now I am too young still for a Benz. Enjoy your AMG, it's a nice car too. Hey here is a video for you.

Too young for a e or c63? I'm 33 and I'd drive either one of those. Although not over a m5

It's a BMW joke. If you go to a BMW place and mention MB, the sales guy will always tell you that only old people drive MB. It's a joke like old people always drove Cadillacs when I was growing up and it was true. That was the 60s.

I know there are more now with the new models, but despite their ad campaign showing a couple of dudes in their late 20's/early 30's enjoying the ATS I still rarely see any guy in a new Caddy younger than 60. I'm certainly in their new target market at 40 and I don't have any friends who have bought a Caddy or even talked of seriously looking at one. Just an observation. I had a CTS as a rental last year and it was decent, but I'd take a 5'er over it. The new Cadillac cabins seem cramped in comparison (ATS vs 3 series, CTS vs 5 series). The exterior styling isn't bad though. I'd take an M5 if I didn't need AWD to some degree...thus X5M is in sight.
