2011 E89 35i Oil leak

Have a 2011 E89 35i that was leaking oil on the ground. Dealer says its the oil pan gasket. Seems odd at only 12,000 miles. Hope they are not getting the diagnosis wrong. Anyone with similar problem?

Anything can happen at any mileage. You gotta figure if there's say 50000 parts in the car and there's a 0.5% failure rate, that's 25 parts. No car is made perfectly all the time.

Laek Fix - Recycled Oil? BMW Service

So BMW Dealer takes 2 days to replace the oil pan gasket. I asked the SA if they the would have replaced the oil with new as i did not see it on the invoice - here's the answer:

BMW requires recycle of the oil unless the car is due for an oil change and will not cover new oil for a warranty repair like this which is why it does not appear on the final repair paperwork. BMW requires recycle of the oil? So I asked if they just threw the old oil with 7,000 miles on it back in and the answer was "no it is recycled oil."

This is my first BMW all my other cars have been either Audi (currently have the new S6) or Lexus. Have never heard of such nonsense regarding putting used oil or "recycled" oil back in the car after a warranty repair. Makes me wonder about BMW and now I will likely have the oil replaced with new so I can rest. Both Audi and Lexus also return the car washed - not BMW apparently.

First ever BMW service - definitely not what I expected.

Crappy dealer,or service writer. This is the dumbest thing I've heard of late, They put the old oil back in?? They added new with the old?? , Or is this a money issue?? Car wash you probably have to request, not everyone wants their car washed, next time ask while the service writer is with you.
