Key programming

I recently installed my alarm system and paid the $50 for my local BMW dealer to activate it, first off they were crappy on service because they reset all my other settings to 'their' default. Would have been nice if they asked me first what I wanted everything set to.
The issue is I know they programmed the doors to lock upon drive off, because at first they had NOT programmed it and I had them go back and redo it. It worked for most of the day but then later I noticed it no longer does it.
My question....are these things programmable via the key? I'm thinking so because my toddler was playing with my keys and accidently set the alarm off. I'm thinking a keypress series perhaps would activate or deactivate each function. Is this possible? If so where can I find the directions to set what I want up or do I have to go back to the dealer AGAIN to get them to do it again? What a rip off...$50.00 each time you want to set something different. Most cars have these options set via the key remote.

On an E46, they have to be reprogrammed by the dealer.

Mine did the same thing after I went in for a completely different service item. They deactivated the DRLs and changed to the two-stage unlocking (one press-driver; second press--passenger and trunk). I made them change it back, which they did for free.
