E34 540i Driver's Side Fog Light Cable
I bought my E34 540i two months ago and I have a bit of an issue with my driver's side fog light. When I bought the car the previous owner had trouble figuring out why that light wouldn't work. The fuses and bulb were fine. Being the junior aerospace engineering student and BMW fan I am, in the past two months I've been tinkering around with it knowing I'll eventually figure out what the problem is. Two weeks ago I used a little CLR to clean the contacts in the housing and the cable to the housing because they were caked with road grime. I got the light to work and found that there's a short in the cable so I duct taped it to the top of the brake scoop in a position that didn't let it short out and this worked fine until today's rain made it come off (I felt terrible putting black duct tape on a black BMW even when its inside the bumper haha). I'm thinking about pulling out the cable and replacing it since it looks like was spliced many times and is shorting out in a splice. Is this a hard Do-it-yourself job or will it be a simple disconnect and reconnect under the fuse box? My Bentley doesn't have anything on this that I can find.
Thanks for any help!
