2007 335i, 94Kmi buy or not for $17k?

Hello All,

I've been viewing the boards for sometime now. I know this could be considered a common question where someone asks quite a generic question looking for affirmation that what he's buying is a good buy. But then again I'm just a guy whose looking to get some confirmation from BMW enthusiasts alike and then again general assumption made I'm a working man whose got to take care of the bills but yet who'd like to enjoy his drive to work and drop $17k for all this. This is where all you fantastic people on the board come in with your experience and expertise and I consider myself lucky that I can ask you folks this question as hopefully I don't make any costly mistakes from your past experiences.

Here are the details on the car:
2007, 335i, ~95k mi. all power options/nav/pdc/cold weather/sport/premium pkg
http://www.eurobahnmotorsportsnc.com...-27409/4462764

Called the dealer and sounded like they are BMW enthusiasts themselves and here's what they have done so far:
- Full inspection
- Vehicle software update
- Fluid flushes
- No carbon buildup - 4000rpm check for 20mins - that's what the sales guy said
- done a pressure test on the cooling system
- no leaks per what sales person mentioned

However here's what's not replaced:
1. Water pump / thermostat
2. Serpentine belt

What do you'll think? Is it high mileage? Is the asking price fair?

Thanks,
-PGK, NC

I'd make them prove the carbon build up with a scope and let me look. Engines are solid make sure its got an oil cooler (major bill if you don't have one and want to start modding)

Get ppi and internal history report beyond that you can't do anything else. Good luck!

Check to make sure the oil filter housing isn't leaking

Also have them jack it and look near the tranny to see if the mechatronic sleeve is leaking

Well, here's a common response: Get a pre-purchase inspection from a competent BMW mechanic not associated with the seller.

Nice price. Have you done your homework?

Pop Quiz:
  1. What is a walnut shell blast?
  2. How does one clean VANOS solenoids?
  3. What is battery registration?
  4. What are FSD's?
  5. When should coil packs be shuffled around?

OK! How'd you do?
