And kudos to BMW for FINALLY bringing the diesel!

It's interesting that the Germans bring us so many diff't engine options and can justify it, but makers like Lexus are stuck in the past with their 3.5V6.

ETA: after reading the press release again it looks like the SAT option is standard on the 550, so that takes $500 off the $2k price increase.
They are not thinner. The light bars inside are thinner, and the third goes all the way around.

Looks like the adjustable side bolsters are back. Notice the two extra buttons above the lumbar adjustment similar to the E60. Click image for larger version

Agreed! They kept same on the facelifted 7 Series, even after moving the xDrive badge to the trunk! Actually I prefer the signal repeater lamps where they were, not on the mirrors, whether or not mirror placement is 'safer'; wish Mercedes didn't start this trend in 2000, if not earlier. Think BMW retained them for that luxury 'belt-buckle' look, which is great when they had a purpose with the integrated lamps - a la Z8 - but now; egh.

Definitely agreed! It's overly complicated to build a new 3 Series, and now the same with the 5 Series; Ridiculous. Should make car buying decisions less difficult, not more! Product Management error, no doubt.

Yes, I see what you're saying! Pretty neat! Good, modern looking improvement.

The top light bar wraps around the entire lamp onto the side of the car, instead of stopping 3/4 of the way around.

Funny, but wonder if they held this back when the F10 was first introduced so they could have an update come the LCI...!?

I'm assuming SAT is still an Option for the 535i's?

I can't believe these marketing blabberers can get away with saying the "taillights are thinner" when it's obviously a lie, the bars inside the taillights are thinner.

Also, doesn't it look like the turn signals up top are now a halogen style bulb and not the LED "points" like the pre-facelift? I know that can't be the case thought.... BMW would never do that.

Thanks for the explanation dbs.

K-A I bet it is, they're probably just trying to standardize some common features to make up for the 550 price bump.

How much do you think the more powerful engine in the new 550i is worth?

Was there a jump when the 6 series/GT got it? You have a point but I have no clue what the numbers were.

ETA: to answer my own question, it looks like the GT price went up around $1700. I'm not sure what any standard features were added but there was a bump.

Interesting. I noticed the non SAT shifter in lots of their press picks, however who knows if that's from a lower model than the 535i.

I feel so special with my SAT, if they make it standard on the 535i's then there goes that.

They don't. People have been paraphrasing the actual press release:

I can't imagine they would go back to a incandescent turn signal. I'm sure it's still LED, in a different config.

What I'm hoping for MY14 is a "simpler" option to add 19" wheels. As of today, you need to either go with the M-Package or the Individual Composition.

They did a better on job on the F30.

I found this video released part of the press information by BMW. At around 2:25, it shows the new taillights and the turn signals; they still are LEDs and IMO, look nicer because you can't see each individual LED bulb. Anyways, the video is pretty interesting...

You can also see in that video that the eyebrows are indeed lit on the LED lights, as opposed to the the indirect lighting they use on the current lights.

Lol,, you have too much confidence in BMW. They actually did it with the f30. The tail light of the last e90 was LED, then they changed the f30 to halogen.
But I don't think this is the case with the f30 LCI.

Btw, the changes on the LCI looks like it's worth waiting for. If they don't have killer deals on the outgoing model, I'll just wait until the Christmas sale.

Nice video...now that I see it like this I like it more. Not enough to upgrade, but I do like it. It appears everything is bolt on. I wonder what the msport fender badge will look like...may get the colored slashes

Gents, we drive one gorgeous car. What I love about the F10 is the more time you spend with it, the more you appreciate all of the subtle details they sweat on this car.

I like most of the new tweaks, but the brown leather, improved steering feel, increased HP (550) and the new instrument panel are at the top of my list. Add in the possibility of adjustable side bolsters and we're nearing perfection.

Shoot, I really wanted to hate this refresh...

That's indeed interesting. I stood behind a pre and post LCI 7er the other day and noticed the taillights were identical. I think what the F10's taillights are doing are basically getting the original F01 style taillights. Not sure if that's a technical upgrade as the F10's taillights were a modern modern interpretation than the 7's initially, and utilized "phatter" lava-bars which is what BMW's were doing at every upgrade (making them thicker, not thinner). I guess since they hit that breaking point, now they go back to thinner/more defined.

I also always liked the F10's 2.5 bar look as opposed to the F01's 3-bars (which the F10 has now adopted, again), looks maybe more "artful". But I love the new taillights anyway. That "BMW" logo on them is interesting.... kind of cool I guess.

BTW, will the M Sport be getting one of those cheap emblems in the previous chrome side turn signals? I hope that if so, it doesn't spell out "M Sport", talk about cheesy. Though perhaps I've become a badge-whore, but I'd be jealous if they got the /// colors there. In that computer generated pic they show of it, I can almost make out a little "///M" badge under the chrome strip (like those tiny ones from the wheels), however the question there would be, what would be said "inside" the chrome fender strip.
