Brake Wear Indicator ... Software Update?

I just returned from my 1st anniversary oil service at 9450 miles I told my SA that the brake wear indicator shows 75,000 miles left on the front brakes and asked how I can get a correct reading. He told me that BMW has had problems with these indicators, mostly calling for brake service way too early. He said that they would do a software update requiring them to keep the car for two days, and I could bring my car in anytime.

Two questions:
1. Can anyone tell me what sort of changes I would notice if I have the upgrade done.
2. Several months ago, I had some minor coding done ... Tire pressure and temp; removal of lawyer notices when activating cameras; A.S.S. reverts to last setting; Rear lid opens and closes with fob; fog lights on with high beams. Would these all revert back to factory default as a result of software update?

My car is a 535ix ... April, 2012 build.

Thanks

I can't tell you about the potential coding issues but my 550 had a similar problem. The brake wear indicator came on saying my front brakes needed replacement in just a few thousand miles (I had about 18k on the car). The car was left at the dealership for about 5+ hours if I recall correctly for them to check that plus an oil change. It turns out the system was about 20k miles off.

It will probably erase the coding you did

It will erase for sure... Had the same update done.
Btw, pretty much any time they do any software update it will revert your coding back to factory... So just expect it, and plan to redo any updates each time.

I just had this same programing update done for my brake wear. And, it erased all the music I uploaded to my car. Such a pain!

Correction: The uploaded music is still there, but all of my sirius settings are gone.
