Today I placed an order for my first BMW, a dark blue 335i convertible. I intend to take delivery at the performance center in SC. I'm pretty excited, and am looking forward to following my car's fabrication and transport to the US. The dealership says I can expect delivery in the latter part of July. This forum is a great resource and I hope I can contribute in a positive way as time goes on.

Congrats, and Welcome to the 'Fest!

You are in for an exciting time in the next few weeks. Expect a lot of sleepless nights tracking your new baby across the pond.

If you haven't done so already, go to the BMWUSA website and download the owners manual for your car. It will give you something to read while you are anxiously awaiting its arrival.

ps: Welcome to the Cabrio Club!

You should change it to a European Delivery, I did my E92 M3 as standard delivery then checked out the forum for ED here at BimmerFest..Called my dealer switched the order to ED, re-negotiated the deal from a $72k US MSRP to $1k over Euro Invoice = $62,000 ($10,000 discount), put $4k down on a 36 month lease, and got me a nice $640 payment, and then bought a $1100 plane ticket, and $500 worth of hotels for a week. After expenses I will still come out $5k on top, and $150+ less monthly payment + experience of a lifetime.

So it's been less than 48 hours since I signed the contract for my BMW, and the car is already in production as of 7:06am EDT this morning. It has a scheduled completion date of 6/6/13. I think that's amazing, considering some of the posts I've read here involving delays and such. The dealer told me to expect my Performance center delivery either July19th or 26th, but maybe it can be sooner. That would be really great.

Man, that's nice. Why oh why will it take that long for mine to get on boat and get here already.

Give us details on your ride: Options, cost (pre-tax), etc

In answer to your query, I ordered a 335i convertible, deep sea blue, with oyster and black interior. I got the convenience, cold weather, premium, and premium sound package. I opted for the manual 6speed transmission and the navigation system. It's pretty much loaded with stuff. It will probably take some time for me to learn to use it all. The cost of the car including incentives, excluding taxes, was $55,750

Alexandria, 22315. Inside FF county as well, just west of Kingstown and east of Burke. Spent my first 10 yrs here in Old Town till it lost its charm!

Keep in touch; ever hear of Coffee and Cars, over in Great Falls? They run from 7am to 9am Saturday mornings. Very cool gathering of petrol-heads!

Latest update....

The dealer reports my BMW is completed, and undergoing quality control tests. The updated eta of the car in South Carolina for PCD is between June 17th and 23rd, which is a month earlier than the original estimate. I guess stuff can still go wrong, but this is exciting news.

Another update....

It seems i was given misinformation by the dealer rep I spoke with. My car is still in production it seems, not even as far as the body or paint shop. It's still at stage 150. Apparently the rep who told me otherwise wasn't reading the screen properly, and misinterpreted the information. I know, sounds sort of fishy. Anyway, from here on out, i'll just resign myself to the 2 month wait
I was originally led to expect, and not sweat the details.

I'm happy to report that I've been informed that I have a reservation for performance center delivery on August 2nd. Also, my car is schedualed to be finished tomorrow. Only 2 months to go!

Just got back from the dealership after signing the remaining paperwork. Got my plates to take with me to the PCD on July 26th. Less than two weeks till I get my car. Finally I can see the light at the end of the tunnel. Very much looking forward to driving my 335i.

well read up on Kats thread about keeping your top seals in shape, that would be the best thing you can do at this point, and if you plan on keeping the car after the warranty I would suggest changing the oil at max 7500 miles and not the 15K that BMW says. But up until 4 years and 50K all is Free

I Hope you have a wonderful experience !

Hondo

Thanks, Hondo. By the way, Hondo was my nickname in college. Brings back memories. And I've read Kat's tread already.

Only four more days until my wife and I take delivery of our 335i vert at the performance center. The weather forecast looks good for the entirety of the trip. Today I received the Smart Top module I ordered from EAS, and have already programmed it with my setting preferences. I admit I sound like a kid, kind of over eager. Even though its been a long while, the feeling of anticipation, like a child just before Christmas, brings back lots of memories.

Enjoy. Its the best way to get a BMW outside of Euro delivery.

No need to justify your eagerness. I think we'd all be in the same boat given your present circumstances.

Enjoy the top down experience and welcome to the cabrio brother/sisterhood!
