I have the same problem. I'm 6'2", and can fit in the car if I get the seat just so. But the reach to the steering wheel is more than I'd like it to be.

I doubt if you will find a product on the market. The steering column is designed to collapse so it doesn't impale you in a crash. The steering wheel itself contains an airbag. And of course, the steering wheel is the very thing that keeps you from crashing.

With all of that in mind, I don't think that anybody would risk the liability involved in making an aftermarket modification. But if you find there is a product, please let me know!

I wonder if a manufacturer of handicapped accessible equipment makes a wheel that attaches over the stock wheel... Would leave the airbag in place, but add a new rim to the wheel that's maybe a few inches out...

Are you aware that the steering wheel telescopes?

First, does the OP realize that the wheel tilts and telescopes?

Second, the wheel should be at an approximate distance so that when you place both hands at the top of wheel and straighten your elbows to lock them, it presses you back into the seat - but you should be able to fully extend your arms. If not, you may be trying to drive with the steering wheel too close.

Brought back from the easy, swivel-hipped, Elvis 50's, and direct from that chopped & channeled Merc, comes this excellent solution!

Many available HERE - I like this one:

Geesh...I haven't seen on of these in years. You'd need two of them for the "correct" hand placement for a BMW CCA driving school.

In every car I've owned, including my E91, I would have liked a wheel that telescoped further. I'm not a tall guy, but all my height is in the torso (short legs and arms - but not jokes about the lengths of my other appendages, please). The worst were the only 2nd GL Acura TL/Honda Accord. Had to drive those with my arms straight out locked at the elbow.

Anyway, I'm not saying a wheel extender would be of any interest to me, but I can understand why he would want it extended further.
