X6 Fog Light Replacement

Another from the FWIW dept (U.S. 2013 LCI 3.5i)

I pulled the fog bulb as outlined in earlier threads - my bulb is marked "OSRAM H11 Germany"...when pulling the fog light housing out YOU DO NOT USE THE ALLEN FASTENER LOCATED ON THE TOP - that is for the fog light beam adjustment. Depress a simple silver clip downwards next to that Allen screw and gently pull out the entire housing. It's well designed and I'm impressed with its construction - but BMW won't install sliding sun visors in this car? Bizarre...

Thanks dreamalaska-

I'm about to do this very bulb change and your post couldn't have come at a better time!

Which bulbs did you use and were those honeycomb grills difficult to remove?

Thanks in advance!

X6 Fog Light Replacement

I ordered Hoen H11 55w bulbs - have yet to receive. An important point another member discovered is the H11 bulb appears to be only for X6's with adaptive headlights, which I have. Cars without adaptive headlights use H8 for the fog lights. So imo if in doubt it is important to pull your bulb and verify before you order any new ones. The honeycomb plastic trim surrounding the fog light that is inset in the bumper just snaps out. Gently pull forward around its perimeter and it will come out. Once the plastic surround is out you will see the silver snap prong on top of the fog light - take a flat blade screwdriver and press down on the top of the snap prong and gently pull the fog light housing forward towards you.

Hoen bulbs received and installed - look nice and white like the HID's, but unable to judge if any better coverage than stock since its eternal daylight now in Alaska...
