Heater Issue/Heater Core Leak?

2006 330i
44,500 miles
About every five months I have to top it up with coolant. Very faint, light smell of coolant once in a while when defrost turned on. Again, not every time, just once in a while.

When I turn the heater on, it blows hot air out of all vents at fist. Then only hot air comes out of the passenger side. Drivers side vents blow warmish air.

Car runs great, no white smoke from tail pipe, doesn't run rough. Don't think it's the head or head gasket.

No moisture on passenger side floor board area. No puddles under the car.

Seems odd to have a heater core leak at 44,500 but who knows how the previous owner drove it.

My indy did a pressure test. Held 16psi for one hour. Took it to the dealer and they said heater core leak, $2000 please.

Any ideas?

Okay. Thanks.

I'm going to look for an Indy shop in my area. Perhaps I can save some money going that route. A heater core at 44,500 seems odd to me. I bet there is more to the story than the heater core.

Previous owner probably over heated the car or something.

Probably have to have the head looked at as well.

I'll get lots of air miles paying for this job.
