2008 BMW 535xi

Hello guys, I recently just purchased an 2008 535xi. I am a real big newbie when it comes to tuning/chips/mods to get the best out of your engine.

I hear for a couple hundred bucks I can get a lot more HP to this car. What are your thoughts? I am sorry and have no terminology or an in depth understanding of this stuff (I drove a minivan for 10 years) All i know is that the car has twin turbos that have 300HP and 300lb torque. Too be honest it doesn't feel very strong at the stop lights but picks up a lot on the highway. I just want an affordable way of increasing the HP on this vehicle and not have to modify too many things (the easier the better)

Thank you so much for bearing with a newbie!

P.S i just recently put 18' m6 style rims on there with nitto motivo tires

Jb4 with dual cone intake should be your first mod for power I think it's like $500 and you can't install it yourself it's easy. Get it at burger tuning. Other then that you won't get anything else for under a grand but here are options

Evolution racewerks charge pipe with burger methanol inject kit.
Evolution racewerks front mount intercooler $950 ( mike at n54 )
AR catless down pipes $950 ( mike at n54 )

Get all that and you won't have a power problem anymore. After that there is RB turbos $3500 and v3 coil overs $2700

Thank you, can you explain to me what the jb4 is? Would it void a factory warranty? Does it ruin the engine life at all? Do i get worse fuel efficiency? Whats the difference between the jb4 and dinan?

Thanks

Jb4 FTW best money I spent
A lot of info on n54 tech for jb4.
Best to take it out for dealer visits. Will void the warranty if they see it.
I been using it on my e90 for a while with no issues.
Takes 15 to 20 mins to install. Gets easier second time.

JB Stage 3? Costs 479 on burger tuning and the dual cone intake cost 95.00 can you really feel a big difference in power? Does it really add 80hp? how about any torque?

I run it on map 5 which is auto tune and it does wake up the car. Very noticeable upgrade and dual cone intake sounds amazing IMO. Compare to dinan it is fraction of the price but dinan does match the warranty if u have any left on the car. Performance wise I heard jb4 is more aggressive once u start adding methkit, down pipes etc

Cobb is the way to go if you worry about warranty..

Frankly speaking when you own a N54 engine you should start enjoying the power and stop worrying about the warranty...

Good luck

Do the jb4 g5 iso it's the best buy for the $ and you can turn it off when you take it to the dealer

sorry dude your crazy if you bring your car to the dealer with jb4 installed... I have a tremendous relationship with my service department but i dont put them in a position where its them or me.... plenty of guys got flagged with jb4's installed safe than sorry... But Jb4 is the biggest bang for buck mod..

^^^^ 100% correct
I always take it out before a dealer visit. U can definitely turn it off for a oil change but not worth risk IMO to get flagged.
