Steering wheel and driver sit problem

Hello everyone, I have 2003 x5 3.0i and the driver sit adjustment button stop working also the steering wheeling stop moving at the same time. After two days the driver sit adjustment button start working but the memory button still not working and also the steering wheel not working. Some one told me it's a loss of connection in the driver sit adjustment button and I saw a video on YouTube who has the same problem like me but I don't know how to unscrew the driver sit adjustment button and someone pleats give me advice. I took it to the mechanic but he ask me $280 just to find out the problem of the steering wheel but I know it's because of the driver sit and I don't want him to mess up with my steering wheel. So someone please tell me what to do. Thanks

I've never removed anything from the seat of my X5...but I have on my e38 & e39. Although the seat modules are different...as well as the covers...BMW's design architecture is still fundamentally the same.

First, the seat control module has a wiring harness attached to it...but the module itself is mounted in the plastic cover around the base of the seat (see diagram below for #3 thru #4). To access the seat control modules wiring harness...you'll need to not only remove the buttons that are pushed on to the control module...you'll need to remove the plastic covers from around the bottom of the seat.

Another thing that might help is...to look for any e53 DIY that deals with the seat...like a seat swap DIY, heating pad issues, occupancy mat seat sensor issues, seat belt issues, etc...all of these require some manipulation or removal of the seat...and there may be a reference to removing the covers which will help you with what you're looking for.
