I can fully understand the frustration of the people waiting to order these cars. They are clearly fully baked and ready for unveil. It's just silliness from BMW at this point.
I'm sure they think there is (or maybe there actuallyis) some logic to it.

2.5" wider? That's going to be tough. I live in a modern highrise (completed in 2002) condo in downtown Seattle, and the parking spaces are tight! 2.5 inches wider than the previous-generation 3-series means parking will be an issue, particularly with those big doors. One of my neighbors has an R8, and that's fine because he owns two spaces and parks across the line. I watch people wedge their X3s and X5s into these spaces, and I'd hate to be the guy parked next to them. Cars simply cannot keep getting bigger like this; the rest of the world isn't getting bigger at the same pace!

Otherwise, the 4-series looks great. I'd prefer the four door, but that's not the point. It looks really good.

Yup, probably pressure from dealers who want to clear their E92 inventory. Wrong tactic IMO, they likely loose more buyers to other brands who would wait for the F32 if they could see it who are not interrested in an "old" model as the E92. It's not a huge deal but frustrating for early buyers nevertheless.

I wonder if the X5 delay is due to them trying to squeeze out every possible last sale of the E-series X5. They continue to sell like crazy, and it's the only model not included in the pull-ahead (which will seriously piss me off if that continues as my X5 lease is up in December and I want to replace with a 435 ASAP).

I'm starting to sound like a broken record. Pricing is not late, this is exactly how it was with the F30. Pricing for the 2012 F30 came out 11/22/2012 and the car arrived in dealers February 11th (IIRC) 2013. If you go back further this is how it was with the E92. E92 pricing was released 7/17/2006 and the car arrived in dealerships September 2006. Pricing F32 is arriving in dealerships in September of 2013. So when I keep saying July for pricing I think I'm right on.

Another guy who was at the event at another Danish dealer wrote this:
"There is a press embargo on the car until the 14th of June"

Since it's not directly from a BMW official but relayed info treat it in that context but it could be the best hint we have of an unveil date.

I believe that BMW dealers have as much influence on BMW's behavior as a stewardess has on the flight plan.

Haha, yeah I think you're right about that. Well, then I'm out of ideas, good or bad why it makes any sense to delay an unveil this close to SOP. I would get some stunning pictures out there as soon as the car is finished to capture as many buyers and orders as possible. The E92s left will find buyers and by delaying you risk loosing some customers to other brands that would wait if they saw the new car.

So, the X5 was unveiled today with cars arriving at dealers in Q4. With the 4-series expected in September it feels a bit overdue.

I agree ... X5 isn't due out until late 2013 while yet 4 series is (I thought) going into production before end of summer?

When we got the 2014 F15 X5 info I thought it was strange as well. If anyone hasn't see the info on the all new X5 -

http://www.bimmerfest.com/forums/sho...d.php?t=699522

It should be any day now that we get the general info on the F32 4 series. However, it will not be until July that we get pricing.

I'm worried that maybe it's related to production issues and that maybe it will be delayed?

I just can't seem to rationalize why they would be withholding the info, unless something is wrong and it's being delayed, or if they honestly think it will generate more hype if it's kept a secret?

Ok. This is my 1st time ordering a vehicle at SOP as well as 1st ED. When will I be able to start the preliminary ordering process ? Can I chose a CA once we have more info and at least pre-order the car to get the ball rolling ?

If they were having issues they wouldn't be touring the car around. The 4 series nomenclature was supposed to be part of a process of splitting the 3 and 4 the way the 5 and 6 is split. Perhaps there is some internal disagreement in BMW about how that should be handled for standard equipment, etc. and it is delaying the final details?

If they'll keep up these silly showings for a selected few in Europe I think we will very soon see new pictures. There are very small cameras today.
There's already very little left to show after the spy pics of the grey one. Most thunder is gone but it would still be nice to see it since to me it looks like it will be BMWs best looking car in the current lineup.

The X5 was a bit of a yawn. Pretty lazy job of the exterior IMO and it actually looked better with the camo on , the interior is very nice though.

Tim, do you know if the 4-series for ED will come out of dealer allocation or not?

I doubt it as BMW will want to move a bunch of 4 Series when it comes out to hold onto the sale lead over Mercedes. That being said the car might not be available right away for ED depending on supply. Only time will tell.

Adam, nobody has made a decision as of yet when a 4er will be available, all we know for sure is not now. I speak to the ED Dept weekly. They know Bimmerfest well...

I was hoping that you were correct Tim but it seems the 4er will be under dealer allocation initially. Uggg

You are dead on, the new X5 is VERY boring, looks like a slightly larger X3 in every way and I really dislike the X3. However I am REALLY liking what I'm seeing so far with the new 4 series coupe.

I will say that, with every BMW design in the last 5 years or so, I've had to see one in person to really tell what it looks like. The pictures don't do them justice.

I just talked to my CA and he seemed to think he should have the pricing details in about a week. I'm guessing that they will get their allotment of cars to order around the same time.
