The front is just darn right strange. Hard to get used to that unlike the current X5. Otherwise, the interior looks nice. Is that leather top? Oh yea, I guess X5 is one leg up from 5 series?

I want see if it has the performance it takes to beat Porsche. Diesel fuel efficiency has reached a new level. That is very nice. I wonder how it compares to the current one. The number seem to be right and about the same.

Gorgeous interior (specially in mocha), but it looks like an overgrown X1.

The X3 is now the pretty one.

The front not an improvement on the e70. Its ok but with the hood opening from fender to fender sorta looks like a Pontiac from years past. Long wide flat hood.

Do like the taillights, but like the taller stance of the e70, could have added the lights to a e70 rear

Don't see all the hoop about the interior. The tablet stuck in middle not so hot. Wait till some of you with kids has one of them grab a hold and pulls. Otherwise
same basic layout as the e70. Those pics are of the upgraded (extra cost) interiors right ??. what is standard

The new design doesn't look very masculine (if that is possible) to the current generation.
Compare the two from the rear bumper view and you'll noticed the current gen has a wide stance.

WOW...what a head turner! Too bad...it's in the direction AWAY from it...MY EYES...MY EYES!

It probably drives and handles great...but c'mon BMW...can you design something that makes your heart skip a beat or makes you want to make your way to the BMW dealership's lot after closing hours so that you can get a better look at multiple angles without being approached by sales people.

Perhaps seeing it "in-the-flesh" will emote a different reaction...but I'm not holding my breath.

Does anyone know if Siri eyes-free integration is included in the new X5? BMW has been dragging their feet including it with any new models.

No mention of it in the press release is a good indication it isn't included.

The interior is amazing. Exterior will grow on me, but first impressions are amazing. The rear looks a little weak, reminds me too much of the X3. Otherwise, this is definitely looking good so far. What got me was "The big news is the addition of an sDrive35i model, which marks the first time the X5 is offered with rear-wheel drive"

After reading through these comments, I gotta laugh, as if these guys could design any better. Why mess with success? Its a bit of a facelift from the previous model, its lighter, better on gas, more space. Let's see you do better. The car looks lighter on its feet too, smaller design. No one, aside from people that have no clue about cars, complained about the 911 retaining its design since the beginning.

Lame comparison. There is basically no car out there (maybe Corvette) that has the same pedigree and rich history that a 911 does.

I don't have to be Anthony Bourdain to know if my meal tastes terrible.

And the F15 could hardly be considered "a bit of a facelift."

The new X5 is pure BMW, and a very handsome BMW. The X5 not only showcases, but artfully advances many of the same fresh BMW styling cues successfully rendered on the F25. The F15 conveys in BMW-speak a robust contemporary athleticism and will be a big BMW success.

The exterior looks good to me. More modern, but not in an in-your-face fashion (a la RRS, but that might be a good thing a couple years from now).

The interior looks MUCH better than I expected.

Big disappointment with new anemic diesel combination of weak diesel and exterior design of M sport as well as new "sport" steering wheel move me in a direction of PC may be even Q7 / if Audi will be able to reduce bloating minivan feel and look/ and RR sport. My current lease on 550 xi M sport is ending in June 2014 and hopefully that allow be to evaluate all the competitors. Very sad, owned X51st and 2 nd generation and loved it............

My guess popularity and price, with exception of a few bimmerfest addicts NOBODY will drive this ultra-powerful diesel as well as profit margin for BMWNA will be very narrow.Alex

Really...So i have to code it or import one to the US when it is built in SC? Makes sense to me. This tech was available in the 90's.

The new ugly design actually helped me go right ahead and pick up a brand new 2013 35d Sport off the dealer's lot couple days ago. So all in all, I'm a happy camper.

AFAIK, it had to do with US safety standards, they must have made it so that it meets the standards for the F15. It's the same reason you can't remotely close the windows and sunroof when you can in other markets. Doesn't matter where it's built, you can't get an M50d here either and it rolls off the same line.

Well I got to say I don't know what the X5 will look in the "flesh" but judging from the pictures the X3 is a much better looking SUV. I may have to "downgrade" and get the X3 in March of 2014.
