Aftermarket Suspension ?'s

I live in the mountains and drive a lot of miles when I get to the bottom of the mountain. I replaced all the suspension arms about 30k miles ago and solved the infamous squeaking noise but now its back with a vengeance. This is not surprising to me but I want to nip it in the bud for a little bit longer than the last go around.

I was looking at some options and aftermarket parts that claim as good as if not better than OEM but everyone is going to say that to move their parts.....hell, who is really going to return a part and say it didn't perform?

So, I am looking for some solid advice before I start stock piling the parts eventually digging in one of these weekends in the future.

1) Should I go to a coilover replacement on springs and struts and if so, does anyone have any recommendations that isn't a budget breaker but performs well
2) Any recommendations on manufacturer for control arms
3) Does anyone know of a reasonably priced kit that includes all
4) If I wanted to go crazy and buy performance aftermarket for racing......manufacturer recommendations?

98 E38 740il - 200k miles (good shape and I have gotten my worth out of this car) I am a total fan by the way. I love the handling and power and the drive train just keeps pushing. Great car.

Unless you want to slam your car, coilovers are an expensive option that will compromise comfort as much as they might improve hard cornering and stance. I have Eibach progressive springs and Bilstein B6 shocks and struts and they have significantly improved handling and road feel while still providing a compliant and comfortable ride. You get about a 1.5" drop all round. I also live in the hills and have no complaints about the way she rides.

For control arms stick to Lemforder, Meyle or Febi / Bilstein. Most of the complete kits sold on Ebay such as FPC Groton are cheap for a reason - they generally don't last. And you don't want to be replacing parts again after 20,000 miles.

If you want to go crazy racing in a 740iL - I despair. But I'm sure there is someone else out there who has done it and can givce you advice on what to buy!
