Ever seen an X5 roll-over?
![]() X5 almost does a roll-over during a rally... http://fun.diadiktyo.net/stream29/video/bmwRally.wmv Any German speakers willing to translate the voice over for us? (Pardon if this is a repost)

That has to be some of the best driving I have ever seen. 99.999999% of drivers would have landed on their roof!

It's Portuguese with a nasty Portugal accent. I can understand it, but not in mood to translate now. I'd need a pencil and paper. If a lot of people request it I may do it, but no time now. |

![]() Translation is not ciritcal, so when you get a chance and are in the mood, that'd be ok.

An AMAZING piece of driving....... most people would be soiling their pants at how close to the edge of the drop-off they got....
the slo - mo shows a really low centre of gravity to pull it back from such a high position athough the driver has an awesome sense of timing for steering input. Interesting to know if this was a suspension feature (turning on a dime) due to anticipated jumps/airborne expectations or pure driver skill? what do you think? |

I think it was about 80% driver skill... and 20% suspension design/low center of gravity. It really is amazing to see how far over the driver got, and then recovered. His front wheels were in the perfect position each time. Amazing.
That X5 was highly modified. Did you notice the full flat bottom skid plate? I'm willing to bet it didn't weigh as much as our X5's which, in the 4500 - 4800 lb. range, are a bit porky!

He almost went over a bank on the last recovery. He actually had to steer towards the bank to recover from the first bounce. I wonder if he ever saw the bank coming from his perspective. I guess there's not much you can do other than tackle the worst thing, tipping, first and take the rest as it comes. Pretty amazing either way.
