Unhappy Sorry 4 Series ED Prospects...

As I suspected, all F32 models for European Delivery must come from dealer allocation for the foreseeable future, until further notice. This is also true for all ///M Models currently in production.

The good news is that the highly-coveted 3 Series Wagon and diesels should be readily available through the regular ED supply pool.

Thanks for letting us know Jon. I heard from my dealer that he didn't know when ED's would be available for the 435i yet - do you have any insight? Unless I can work something out soon, I am going to buy my first Audi ED in late August.

This is purpose of the post. They will not be available any time soon. Unless you can find a dealer willing to burn a US allocation to convert to ED (doubtful because they will lose a ton of money by doing so), August is out of the question. That we know to be fact.

So ED is available in August if dealer is willing to give up their allocation - or August is out of the question period?

Have you researched Audi ED...their program is not as robust as BMW's to say the least. The discount you get is only 5% off regular MSRP, which you can get on a car with US delivery. It seems (to me at least) that Audi offers ED, but definitely doesn't encourage/promote it.

A lot better than the BMW one - where you can't even get the car (taking into account Jon's point).

Technically BMW only offers ~7% off US MSRP. Some of us have done much, much better on an Audi ED, but you have to do a little negotiating to get it. 10-11% is realistic; possibly better if your negotiating skills are sharp and you aren't looking for an RS. There are some elements of the program that are much better. The big deal, in my opinion, is finding an Audi dealer who promises not to cash your VAT deposit check.

Audi ED isn't the spoon-fed cake walk BMW is, but is a comparable program. Agree that Audi doesn't promote it though

This...

I don't want to give anyone a check for $15,000+ and hope they don't cash it. I read on more than one occasion of a dealer promising not to cash it, and then doing so. The two local dealers I spoke with both said that 5% off was the discount, and implied it was a firm price, plus with the lack of Audi promotion is why I made my original statement of it being not as robust a program. However, if you can get 10%+ off (I got 12% off pre-incentives on my ED order), and some guarantee of not cashing the check, then I would agree they are at least on par (when purchasing a vehicle - leasing is a whole other story)

We (Centers) have actually had the ordering guides for a couple of months now. All we are missing is pricing and lease rates.

On that note, I spec'd. out our initial 435i with you, my fellow Bimmerfest Enthusiasts, in mind.

This car is AVAILABLE, and I would be super stoked to see it drive away with a Bimmerfest Member behind the wheel. Attached is the full VIR. Look closely at the spec's. This car is screaming out, "Pick me, pick me..."

Sorry for my ignorance, but "///M i" s that M sport package also?, or just like an M6, M5, M3, etc.

I'm ordering a 535i with M sport package, so I'm wondering if it will come out of the dealer allocation.

Thanks

Hi Robert;

• Audi provided chauffeured A8 transport to Ingolstadt from MUC
• Audi provided 1 nights stay at a luxury hotel in Ingolstadt
• Audi provided a great dinner at a restaurant of my choice in Ingolstadt
• Audi conducted a private tour of the Ingolstadt factory - and this was a real nuts and bolts tour
• Audi provided me a free Swiss vignette

Dealer specific:

• My dealer promised not to cash my VAT check and honored the promise
• I negotiated 11% off US MSRP price - this wasn't a 20 minute discussion

I'm looking at an Audi RS7 for ED as I'm spending much more time in Montana and need to convert our fleet to AWD. I agree Audi leases are sub-par as the residuals are abysmal and the MF's are all over the place. Audi resale values, however, seem to be quite robust on recent models.

Dick

I'm also an Audi owner... the issue I encountered is that Audi dealers in general are not very knowledge about their ED program. That's not to say BMW dealer all know their ED stuff. But it was a lot easier to find a BMW dealer CA that knows the nuts and bolts of the ED program (they are all here on bimmerfest! ) than an Audi dealer CA with same level of ED competency. There is also not an Audi equivalent of bimmerfest "ask the dealer" forum where you can learn this stuff. The 3 largest Audi forum on the internet all shut down their dealer forum... probably because Audi USA made them do it.

Thank you Jon. I appreciate the updated info. Is this set in stone ? I am trying to plan my 1st ED in September on the 435 and any new info at this point is welcome. I am a newbie here so please bear with me. How will the F32s coming out of dealer allocation affect my ability to place an order ? I understand the basic premise behind allocated and non-allocated vehicles but my real question is how do I go about "grabbing" an allocation slot ? I have already spoken with a number of board sponsors over the last few weeks on the east coast and have just been waiting for more information. Do you think ED will be possible say the 1st week in September ? Or is that going to be too soon ?

This is likely to be the case for the next 60-90 days, until production of the new coupes really ramps up.

The situation could change sooner than that, but I wouldn't count on it.

This will affect your order mostly by impacting the transaction price.

It will not be reasonable to expect "X amount over ED invoice pricing".

Be prepared to buy for retail for at least several months.

As soon as your dealer has allocations they're willing to burn for an ED.

They lose money by doing so, therefore don't expect them to be too excited to do it.

Well, I've bought eight cars from my dealer (6 of which have been ED's) and he has always taken great care of me - so I think we'll work something out.

Last exchange we had though he didn't think I could do a late August ED on the F32 even though they have an allocation?

Yes, I have researched it and spoken to a dealer who is offering a pretty good price. I also have an "Audi Supplier Program" discount due to our company relationship with Audi - though the dealer is checking to see if I can use that discount in addition to the ED discount.

The Audi program actually is better than the BMW one except for having to put down a deposit for VAT. The dealer I've spoken with assures me that they will not cash the check unless the car is not returned within the time frame.
