E53 engine question

I have an 04' x5 n62 engine. I was sitting at an idle for about 20 minutes then took off and white smoke (oil) came out like a banshee for about 1 block. Then stopped. I read that crankcase vent valve needs to be replaced, so I ordered 2 of the cap like vent valves online should be here soon. Just under the hood to do preliminary and found a few oddities. Please let me know what these parts are and if I should be concerned.Thank-you! Oh I will be scrubbing that engine tonight... I didn't know it was that dirty!
