Black rims, black emblems, black grills

I just got back from a friends house and he did a GREAT job plasti-dipping my rims, emblems and grills. I did it just to get a feel of how the black would look and if I wanna permanently paint them. Here are some pictures we took at his place!

Would you also be getting dark (or darker) tint to go with those, or keeping it as is as far as the windows go?

He's convincing me on the tint. I'm definitely leaning towards doing that!

I would think in Arizona that the tint would almost be mandatory , however you shouldn't have the top up too much there either. Nice looking Z either way!

Thanks, man! With weather like this, the top stays up most of the time! And yeah, most people get their windows tinted, usually past the point of it being legal. 150 dollars a year in tickets is worth it, I guess.

Tint definitely helps. I had my Lexus tinted dark. Too dark for NH when I moved away from AZ though!

Looks great! Not sure about a black car in AZ though (but I have 2 black BMWs here in NH!). Gets so hot there.

Top down early morning or evening with AC full blast feels nice there!

Thanks! Yeah, it's kind of annoying because the interior is black as well. It gets ridiculously hot in there. The dust is also a terrible problem!

Looks great! Does your friend do work on the side or is this his business? I live outside of Tucson but would love to get some black done. I have an 09 Jet Black Z4 and 07 Monaco Blue Metallic 335i. I put performance black grills (OEM) on both cars and would like to do the silver plastic on the lower grills. Also would like to cover the lower part of the valance on both cars.

We may not drive with the top down during the summer months but where else can you drive with the top down September through April or May!

You can do it in NH with heated seats on full and heat at full blast!

He does this as a side thing, he's just really damn good at it. I've been convincing him to open up his own shop, strongly considering going into business with him. I can talk to him for you if you want to get something done. He painted my grilles matte black and it looks amazing. I would HIGHLY recommend him.

Tint it - if you don't want a murdered out look, then go with light tint. You'll be amazed what keeping UV rays out does for your interior as far as staying cool. Really worth it I think.

As for black rims - i think you need 19s to pull off the aggressive murdered out look...

I recently did my winter wheels for my 335i X drive and it's as simple as the video shows. I don't know how long it will hold up but I'll find out this winter. At first I was going to get my wheels powder coated but the guy from the powder coaters said it would be as expensive as new black wheels so I decided to Plasti-Dip.
If you do it your self just be sure to do lots of very light coats. I oversprayed my wheels with Plasti-Dips "glosser" toget them just a little shinier than flat. They look great now sitting in the garage!

Looks good.
My 2 cents if the all black out is the theme.
Go for 20% tint.
Black CF emblems. I only see the the BMW blue on the sides.
Need to wrap the side markers, Front and Rear reflectors with 20% smoked film

I think that grey looks absolutely stunning when put on black wheels.
