2000 Z3 roadster

Hello everybody. I've just recently obtained my dream car of the last 10 years... Z3 roadster, 2000, 2.3. Very pristine... only 52k miles, well maintained, including hardtop. Have been driving it everywhere for about 60 days and a few questions (issues) have popped up. Radio seems to have rattle in the sub-woofer between the seats. I've been told there are 2 sub-woofers, but I can't even get the top lid off to get to the sub-woofer compartment. Have read about cheaper replacements (kicker) with modifications. Ready to do all that if I can get access without snapping off any plastic pieces. I don't even know the specs of my radio... Know that it is the business radio w/ CD, but no info about wattage, channels, etc. Can anyone help me remove the top w/out breaking the snaps, and does anyone know the specs for the radio? Was this an option? I seem to have seen pictures or references to this space as a storage area, and wonder if the subs were part of and upgrade or optional series.

Subwoofer

I also just got a Z3 and the first thing I noticed is the BMW stereo is poo poo. I had the bad rattling is the subwoofer. I replaced the sub amp (trunk, left side behind carpet) with a alpine sub amp and this reduced the rattling by 75%. The speaker will also be replaced to complete the job. Its hard to find a 6" sub. I'm going to modify the box and install a quality 8" sub. Good luck.
