New (to me) X5 Woes! Please help

I recently purchased a 2004 X5. everything worked great at time of purchase.

About 2 weeks into ownership, I was house shopping on a hot summer day in Bama. The 12 yo boy was tired of looking at houses and requested to stay in the car. We were in the house about 15 minutes. When I came back to the car, the air was blowing hot. We drove to the next house and I turned the car off. Nothing abnormal except air blowing hot

Came out from the house and there was a small sized spot of antifreeze...the expansion tank had cracked...I also learned later that the coolant thermostat was broken (which I assume caused the tank to crack?) . I drove the car home about 6 miles from the last house. No overheating issues, but the air never would get cold.

I have replaced the expansion tank and coolant thermostat...which for a novice was rather enjoyable experience.

Can anyone give me some guidance on the A/C issue?

I checked the fuses in the glove box. everything seems ok. The compressor does not seem to be kicking on.

Thanks from a newb!

Did you check the 50 amp fuse in the glove compartment to see if it is blown? The fuse is for the aux fan in front of the radiator. You may haver to get the truck scan to see if there are any error code(s). A bad aux fan will have a code, but it will not set of the SES or CEL. light.
