K-40 vs Escort 9500i

Does anybody have experience with an Escort 9500i hard wired into their car? I
currently am using an K-40 hard wired. It seems to work pretty good but I am curious
if the 9500i wouldn't be better. There are BMW dealers around here who can install
either and the cost is about the same. Have the dealer do the job protects the warranty.
Would appreciate any comments.

For what it is worth, here is a link to a thread in another forum that I am a member of that had a very lengthy and sort of exasperating back and forth about this K40 vs. Escort 9500ci subject.

It is educational and entertaining until we take a dive into sillyness.... Enjoy!

Thanks very much for the link. That was probably the best thread regarding anything to
do with cars that I have ever read and I appreciate it.
One question for you: the last post was 3 years ago. I know that K-40 has made
improvements especially with their laser defusers and I assume that Escort has made
changes to their product as well.
As things stand today, how would you rate K-40 and Escort 9500?

K40 today (?)

Since I have been using the ESCORT Passport 9500ci in my M-B ML63 AMG I really do not have any experience with the presumably upgraded K40 system so cannot speak to that.
I will say that I have been impressed with ESCORT's LIVE feature that augments their radar/laser detectors/diffusers. It syncs with these devices and allows the ESCORT Passport community of drivers using the same road route as you at an earlier time to alert other users of this product to the presence of LEO's, speed traps, etc., at specific locations and times. The real advantage of this feature is that you are alerted to a LEO and/or speed trap at least a mile ahead, prior to your detector receiving any form of radar or laser signal. It allows you to make sure that you are traveling at the speed you should, prior to any indication of radar/laser on a traditional detector.

This feature is very similar to the iPhone/Android App called TRAPSTER, which has gained popularity over the past several years. I have used both and appreciate the seamless link of the ESCORT LIVE cord to my ESCORT Passport detectors, even though I need to pay for an annual database subscription.

Good luck and I assume you really cannot go wrong with either product.

(P.S. - See my other Thread in this forum about incorporating the ESCORT Passport 9500ci display inside the OEM inside rear view mirror. It is a very stealth yet expensive custom install that eliminates any visible "add on" in the car's interior.)
