I Hear a POPPING sound when I brake.

I have a 2007 750Li @65000mi. When I put the car in reverse and push the brake for the first time I hear a popping sound. What could it be? a neighbor of mine says it could be that one of the pins in the caliper is broken or coming loose. Any thoughts/opinions?

I have no idea what it could be but when it comes to brakes, I wouldn't hesitate to fix or get looked at asap. Good Luck

Re: I Hear a POPPING sound when I brake.

No handbrake is applied. This noise only comes up during the first applying of the brake going in reverse. Just for the dealership to look at the caliper will set me about $109. Not to bad but hopefully it will get solved and fixed

I had a loud thump on sudden braking and it was the D/S thrust arm bushing.

Well I saved myself a lot of money I think by killing 2 birds with one stone. I recently had squeaky and I had bought new front and rear brakes and sensors. When all was said and done and I replaced the brakes that Popping noise I would hear when I reversed went away. Im pretty sure one of the pins that held the front passenger caliper was loose and with me tightening it back up it made all the difference. Thanks for all the advice guys. Appreciate it.

Check the pads. Sometimes if there isn't enough tension on the mounting clips, they will shift when going from forward to reverse and vice versa.
