BMW 4 Series M Sport Pictures

BMW 4 series M sport

BMW just released the details on the all new 2014 4 series coupe. An enthusiast favorite is the M sports package which is available from the launch at the end of the summer. The M sport package for the 4 series includes an M aerodynamics including numerous body components (front apron with large air intakes, rear bumper with diffuser, side skirts) and high-gloss Shadow Line trim. The exterior paint shade Estoril Blue Metallic is available only with M Sport on the 4 Series Coupe. M Sport is further distinguished by 18-inch or optional 19-inch light-alloy wheels (435i only) in M design. Inside, features such as M door sill finishers, an M leather steering wheel and an M driver's footrest complete the atmosphere. Technical features of this package include M Sport suspension (rear-wheel drive models only) and M Sport Brakes (also a stand-alone option on all 435i Coupes and an optional upgrade on 428i Coupe when M Sport is chosen) which includes calipers painted in blue finish.

Those wheels look like the offspring if the 400 and 403m got together

Love the calipers. Those aren't available on the F30 M-sports, are they?

Did BMW just put an M badge on the side of a non-M product where a normal M3/M5 badge might go?

The conversion of M-Motorsports to M-Marketing is now complete.

Those calipers/rotors don't LOOK like anything special besides a nice paint job. Let's see if I'm wrong...

For 2014, they are.

You're not.

They still offer the MPerformance brake upgrade. But now like the rest of the world, there is a cheaper upgrade to MSport brakes which is largely just blue paint and badging on stock 4 piston Brembos.

Speaking of the M badge on the brakes, isnt it upsidedown?

I agree with you Joe. I thought the whole point of making the 4-series is so the coupe would have more exclusivity from the 3-series sedan. If they go putting an m badge on a non m car what does that do for the actual m series' exclusivity? Also, if you look at the other 4-series pictures it seems like their new theme is to put the trim sign above that front wheel vent. A sportline model had a "sport" sign put there .

That Line badge is also in the F30 front fenders but BMWUSA decided to not include it (badge-delete) in USA-bound F30s.

I'm starting to become embarassed to be an M owner and I don't know if I'm quite as excited for the new m3 to come out.

This is embarassing. Ricers figured out that this type of stuff was embarassing 10 years ago and stopped using decals and stickers and painted calipers to the same extent. Now we have the M performance decal, an M emblem on the front quarter panel on the 4-series coupe, M-painted front calipers...

It's just rice with a side of bratwurst.

Thoughts:
1. Overall it looks great.
2. New sport wheels = awesome.
3. M badge on the side is uber lame.
4. The interior has some questionable choices. (coral red/ saddle brown dash?)

I have no issues with painted Calipers. I have been making calipers look nice since I was a kid:

I draw the line at the decals/badging.

My first big BMW gathering('08) I saw so many E90/E92 335s with M Stripes and M badges it was ridiculous. These were the same people to look down on "Ricers" in Hondas yet were doing to same type of mods.

If the 4 series with M sport package is any indicator of what the M4 will look like, I can quite honestly say the E92 M3 is much prettier.

Seen the line badge for luxury, modern and sport but never an M badge.

I wouldn't want a car that says "modern" on the side of it. Sport or M is much better given the choices.

I agree with some of your points (particularly the one about the M emblem on the front quarter panel).

However, I do not think my M Performance Brakes look "rice" or "ricey" in the least.

Pretty sure M Sport brakes have larger disks and more pistons that stock 428 brakes. Probably very close to 435 stock brakes though.

I never noticed them on U.S models?

I'm not sure if BMW will put the "M" badges on the fenders of N/A models, I wouldn't be surprised if they didn't. In any case, as much as I love what the ///M logo looks like and stands for, etc., BMW is going too far in badging the exterior as such if you put it in the perspective of a "real" M owner. Fact is, if BMW THEMSELVES badge a car with an "M" badge, then officially all of us with M-Sports have "Real M Cars". Why play it down if BMW's whoring it out? If someone walks up to your car and says "Is that an M?" then what are you gonna say when you have 14 M badges scattered all over your car and two of them being right there on the fenders? Well, thanks to BMW, it's a "Yes". I'd be pissed if I had a "true" M car.

I never thought of my Porsche as a ricer. If painted calipers are good enough for my Porsche then they are good for BMWs as well. I wish I was able to get them for my 335is instead of the unfinished cheap looking ones that are on there now.

I think that the fender badge is mostly an European thing. BMWNA so far said no to all of them from the get go...
